Super glad to hear that Brad turned the corner on Last of Us. I'm going to assume that he's is going to like it even more after he finishes it. I think the whole "the gameplay is horrible!" is a really overblown. Maybe I'm just more forgiving of this stuff but we've seen these kind of complaints about Infinite and Last of Us this year, I just really don't get it at all. I'm not sure how you (and this is a general "you") can complain about the gameplay of those games and then praise games like Brothers and Gone Home (two games I like a whole lot).

My taste in games and Jeff's seem to be further away than ever before as he just seems like to be down on almost everything this year. It's been a weird year though, obviously, so I can't say I blame him too much, considering.

Even though I've started to become used to the new lineup, I would be lying if I said hearing the GOTY podcasts later this month won't make me miss Ryan all over again. His voice of moderation really guided those discussions in years past.

I played through The Last of Us first on Survivor and I absolutely hated the game. The story wasn't impressive either because of the repetition in the gameplay.

I'm a premium member but I actually like the ad version of the bombcast better. Is that weird??

Modern black metal/crust punk/generally odorous live show type bands have recently been distributing quite a few releases on cassette tape. Besides the nostalgia, it does compliment the typically lo-fi recordings with an analog warmth.

I kinda had the same feeling as Brad in terms of the gameplay. I wasn't all for the gameplay but after a while, I thought it was brilliant. One criticism the bombcrew commonly have about some games is that they give you all these systems and you don't use them or need them, whereas in TLOU, all these systems and weapons you need to use in normal and higher.

I think Jeff needs to stick with it and get accustomed to the gameplay a bit more and gets a bit more into it. After you get to Pittsburgh, it's phenomenal the rest of the way.

Nah, Red Dead had to go up against Mass Effect 2. I have a feeling that Last of Us is going to end up winning it out this year because everyone seems to range from like to love on it besides Jeff and there's really no strong competition.

Pretty sure Tom Scholz of Boston still records in analog. I've heard many stories about him being anti-CD and anti-digital, because of the pristine quality of an analog master recording being lost in the conversion.

And I'm not against ads delivered in the manner the Bombadeers deliver them.

How the heck is a website like Stamps.com making money? And I highly doubt that Giantbomb contains their target audience. Do that many people really buy more than one set of stamps a year? At least the Bombcast could make the advertisement enjoyable though.

All I was really referencing is Jeff's indifference to contempt for a game that is pretty universally praised, same as RDR.

Saying the (free, optional) add-on of GTA Online should disqualify GTA V from being game of the year - even though GTA V is good enough to be game of the year without it - is like saying MGS4 couldn't have been anyone's game of the year in 2008 because of Metal Gear Online.

Or like saying a game with a fantastic 8-hour story mode is "too long" because it has a 500 wave horde mode.

It makes no sense! -Tell me how it makes any sense.

I'm so conflicted about these ads. I know I can listen to the premium version and avoid the ads, but they're kind of funny and I'm happy that GB can make some money off of the podcast.

They're also weirdly depressing. I think I'd just prefer if they were utterly awful marketting-shitlord extravaganza.

I hope they choose TLOU for GOTY, but honestly, from listening to them talk about all these games, I feel like Bioshock Infinite was the game they all really liked and agreed on about how much they enjoyed it.

I didn't like Link to the Past so I have no nostalgia for it. But I did enjoy Link Between Worlds. Kind of surprised that Vinny isn't enjoying Tearaway more. Then again, I've seen him play Dark Souls and I know how he feels about nice things.

I really hope the people that advertise with GB understand what they are going to get.

I kinda feel like stamps for physical mail is a weird fit for a tech/gaming podcast. I'm not sure who the target audience for stamps is exactly, but I'm not convinced that it's us.

Stamps.com advertises on just about every podcast. I don't think I've ever listened to a podcast that didn't at some point have a Stamps.com ad.
