This is one of those games you never want your friends to walk in and see you playing.

They really nailed the look and tone of the show, which is to say it looks pretty low budget but enough styyyyyle to keep it afloat, but I really just have to wonder what they were thinking with the timing. Didn't the anime air 5 years ago? How bizarre.

I find the ridiculous over the top action and direction of Kill La Kill and similarly Gurren Lagann to be really obnoxious.

That's kind of what Studio Trigger is known for though, it's the ramp up in intensity and ridiculousness that attracts people and subsequently why people love them. The layers upon layers that the show begins to reveal to you is what has made those two particular anime staples to watch. However it's not for everyone. Trigger also likes to add a bit of the erotic comedy in there which can make people uncomfortable at times. If you can get past the minor stuff such as that it's one of the best watching experiences that can be had today.

Ben and Jan, you'd be doing yourselves a disservice by continuing to ignore Kill la Kill and the same studio''s Gurren Lagann. Each show is less than 30 episodes in their entirety and you can breeze through them both in less than a week, depending on your watching habits and how fast you go through them.

Kill la kill is one of the most stylish anime out there. Go watch it if anything you saw here interests you. It’s one of the most ambitious anime of the decade.

Just started playing this at work and going to put this on hold for a bit. Don't want people thinking I like anime

Nothing featuring Kill La Kill is safe for work.

Or safe for life, really, as this show is un-fucking-bearable.

@professorx86: I can respect that they have their thing and really go for it. I didn’t completely hate Gurren Lagann. I watched all of it, but at a certain point the craziness become so exhausting and I was like ”alright, I get it”. So yeah it’s probably just not for me. And I don’t mind the ecchi stuff in Kill La Kill at all. Golden Boy is one of my favorite anime so I have no problem with the eroticism.

@benpack: Good news, it's on Netflix again! Never to late to either restart or pick up where you left off. Kill la Kill is also on there.

I watched this anime years ago, it actually wasn't bad at all. The character designs always felt out of place though.

One senses that many crimes are being committed here, but I'll simply note that this program is allegedly in great part about fashion...and the heroine, considerable issues with exposure aside, is dressed in one of the absolute ugliest costumes in anime's long history.

Remember, kids, sexy lady anime drawn by men is not female empowerment, it's men defining what female empowerment should look like for their own perverse enjoyment! :)

The action looks pretty stylish but i was surprised to hear Ben name it as one of the most beautiful games he played. Like the environments seem pretty drab & washed out to me & the plain red text was not stylish enough to warrant covering so much of the screen i felt.

I also wonder if having combo's where you need to to place some pauses between your attacks is the pinnacle of a deep combat system to be honest. It does seem to move pretty snappy.
