aw shit I was at work but ima watch this when I can. My main worry is I played the fucking shit out of dark souls and id be frustrated, but I don't usually have that problem with a vinny game, strangely. and iirc rorie and/or ian have played it. I think. Anyway thanks for this, im assuming before watching it that it is good. Certainly one of my favorite games.

I hope to god this doesn't make me want to get back into this and actually trying to beat the THIRD regular enemy. This game is like thigh cutting from what I remember.

Don't let the initial minutes throw you off. They just needed a bit to get into a groove and have Vinny re-familiarize himself with the game. Once they were there, oh my was it good. This is a must watch.

This was great. Loved seeing Rorie and Ian join Vinny's dark adventure.

Lovely how Rorie gets upset at Ian telling Vinny what to do and immediately tells him what to do.

I think Rorie should let Ian help Vinny out. Vinny's the dad you hate to see angry.

I am so hype for this, it's actually a little unnerving.

I really, really love the Souls games (actually, I've been kind of a From Software nerd since King's Field), and I was pretty disappointed when it seemed that the entire GB crew had written them off completely, but I had just put it down to an essential difference of opinion. But it's really nice that some of the guys are going to give Dark Souls a second shot - not to mention Patrick taking dives into stuff like Monster Hunter and Fire Emblem. I mean, don't get me wrong, I hope Jeff stays as opinionated as he is forever, but stuff like this renews my faith in the GB crew.

Oh man did they ever underestimate the difference that stability does to a shield. As soon as they swapped to that silver knight shield, Vinny started getting chewed up by those dogs something fierce.

Its only the first episode and its already my favorite content on the site.

@gimbal_lock: He was getting knocked down before that as well heh, the 100% reduction is worth the lower stability (plus when you upgrade it the silver knight shields stability is pretty good, easy upgrade as well).

Man, this was depressing. I recently put in 20 hours in DS, felt real proud of myself after beating the Gaping Dragon, and then I watch Vinny running through an area I didn't even know existed at an insanely high level still getting his ass handed to him. I will never complete this game, but I sure hope this feature keeps going. I must live vicariously through Vinny!

The great thing about DS is that secret areas are actually secret, not obvious (I haven't watched this yet, so not sure if Vinny actually entered a secret area or not). What makes DS so special is imo the community aspect of it, getting in on the ground floor, when people didn't understand shit about the game, was amazing. Fez was similar, actually.

I've decided that I really like Ian, and they should keep him around.

Having finished Dark Souls, I knew that ending was coming... and it made it even better ! :'D

Well, I guess I just bought Dark Souls: Prepare to Die Edition on Steam for $7.49.

With Silver Knight Shield VS Eagle Shield I'd argue that stability is king, and 6 more stability is superior to 5% less damage reduction. When you get hit at 95% reduction it's almost nothing, especially with 20 (!) flasks. Meanwhile Vinny is having his guard broken all over the place. High stability is OP. SKS upgrades max at 76 stability and Eagle at 84.

The only downside is the weight, but in this situation Vinny wasn't aiming for 25% roll.

I only post this because Eagle Shield is constantly looked down upon for its 95%. I PvP'd with it at 25% roll and stamina regen items and had great success because my stamina was always far far above my opponents.

That was great. I think I might restart Dark Souls.
