Amazing! this is easily my favorite GB series and worth the subscription on it's own. Maybe one day Drew and Dan can reverse roles and Drew can watch Dan try to play a flight simulator

The parts Drew worries won't be fun to watch, he shouldn't worry about. People like watching him figure things out.

However, having to watch Drew whine and complain every single time the game inconveniences him in the slightest or expects him to do pretty normal things like fight a boss...that is never fun.

@drewbert No magic, every crazy weird thing in Metal Gear is actually explained at some point or another in weird pseudo science.

I'd already watched the video - I was saying that more for other people. When I last was here, it was the top comment, so it wouldn't have been avoidable. I think everyone knows the risks of the comments section, but that doesn't mean we can't show a little courtesy to our fellow Bombers. Just a suggestion.

FYI: Dan said in the GB thread on NeoGAF that he and Drew recorded several MGScanlon episodes yesterday, so there's more coming in the near future!

On the topic of Metal Gear Scanlon, I've got news you'll like and news you might not like (but isn't a big deal):

The News You Might Not Like: We won't be doing a live finale. It's not going to make sense with our schedules and GOTY stuff.

The Good News!: Since there was no one in the office today on account of the storm, Drew and I decided to come in by ourselves and record several episodes. You will certainly see more Metal Gear Scanlon by the end of 2014.

Man, Drew KILLED IT this episode. Especially after such a long hiatus, he really had a handle on the controls and nuances of the game this episode. Great job Drew! You didn't even die this episode and absolutely nailed the Harrier fight.

This post may sound like a burn on Dan but I swear it's not! I very much enjoy his antics!

That being said, I think it's super cute when Dan doesn't completely know everything that's going on. I hope he continues to forget things and get information wrong. I just wish Drew would catch on that Dan can make mistakes so when odd things like Pliskin saying "Stop impersonating him!" happen, Drew can be like "Dan, I'm not so sure you're right about that." Thankfully he didn't bother with trying to get transported in boxes, didn't run straight to Strut F without checking for cyphers first, and didn't waste his time trying to hold up people for supplies he didn't need anyway. Awesome job Drew!

I look forward to the next episode when it all goes to shit again. ;)

I am so happy right now. If I could, I would marathon Metal Gear Scanlon

Current pet theory after having replayed everything this year except for 4: The real hero of the Metal Gear series isn't anyone named Snake. But it is someone with an animal name. The running theme of the series after 3 is that heroes die as villains.

Really looking forward to the latter episodes of this. I remember the first time I played through this game, I had no fucking clue what was going on for the last 2 hours. There's just...so much stuff.

MGS 3 pretty much convinced me that Ocelot was the hero of the entire "Solid" series of games.

@danryckert@drewbert I have a theory on how the rest of this series should go down. Once Drew has played through the entire main series, possibly including Peace Walker and Ground Zeroes, Drew should be the one to get the early review copy for whenever the Phantom Pain is released. Then, you guys do one last series, but this time it's Dan playing through it with Drew knowing everything ahead...

Drew is finally the super spy we always knew he could be.

Drew finally conquered Strut F! Yay! And that fight with the harrier!

What was in the other lv 3(4?) room he missed in strutt F when going for the Psg1? Can't remember.

(Spoiler?) Stop impersonating him, meaning Big Boss. Solidus is the most perfect clone of Big Boss.(Can't remember if spoiler or if it's just not as obvious as it was when I played it)

Watching Drew struggle to remember what the hell happened in the previous episode was entertaining.

I had to pause and type this. I love when Dan and Drew are confused about what is hitting Solid Scanlon on in the harrier fight, when it is literally hovering above his head. If you think about how that could be happening, he must be firing the hovering jets into Drew's face.

Sorry I just got a kick out of that.

So in-between the last episode and this one, I managed to beat the entirety of MGS2 and move on to 3. I'm excited to watch Drew's reactions as to what lies ahead.

Is this the peak of Raiden being a pathetic whiny spoilt teenager, or does it get worse?

You do know he eventually becomes a cyborg ninja, right?

It's going to be really hard concentrating on my final this morning knowing I have this waiting for me when I'm done.

So I've only played Metal Gear Solid and Metal Gear Rising Revengeance so at what point does Raiden go from this to crazy action cyborg ninja?

The Harrier boss fight is my favourite in this game. Now we begin the slow descent into madness that MGS2 is known for.

Man, Drew dominated in that episode. Keep it up. And of course, this was awesome as always. They're starting to get closer to the real meat of this game now, so I'm VERY interested in Drew's reaction to the next few episodes. I am curious how far they will go next time. I'm betting that they will end with meeting Emma.

Ah this game is great. I just can't believe I forgot how shitty Raiden and Rose's conversations were. I seem to recall at least one real heartfelt conversation towards the end of the game though.. I think.

Im so ready for another episode of Metal gear scanlon!
