Campaign was the main reason I bought the game and I was NOT disappointed.

5 hour campaign does feel short. People say that was the length of COD 4. I don't remember, but if that's the case then COD 4 campaign feels short. And yet, it was still awesome. Remember the times when a game that had an 8 hour campaign was an outrage? Damn, things evolve. And, in terms of FPS, the evolution looks like shorter campaigns and more multiplayer. In my opinion, that sucks. But, I rarely like to play multiplayer. It's understandable. BUT YOU SHUT DOWN UAVS!

Thanks for the awesome review Jeff. You sound like a kid who knows a terrible secret and can't wait to share it with others - which is a good thing in this case!
 
I'm going to just rent MW2 for the singleplayer. The multiplayer for COD4 was awesome and I'm sure this one is even better but FPS multiplayers don't hold my attention for more than a month. I always end up craving more of Unreal Tournament's archaic and faster paced action.

i agree, i think online multiplayer shouldn't  be a factor in the GOTY discussion, singleplayer only :) "

The decisions in looking at a candidate for GOTY is to look at the game as a whole. To ignore the multiplayer of a game and in this case MW 2 is just silly. "

i LOVE the singleplayer aspect of games, so this is just my opinion...online is just an afterthought... for me "

If the campaign is actually 5 hour long, then this is a disappointment. I understand it has the multiplayer and coop but didnt same people who hated on Halo 3 love MW1 and MW 2 for the same reason? I'm not trying to be a Halo fanboy, but it feels to me that IW just crammed in the nukes for 5 hours straight and called it a day.

Multiplayer is what made games like Halo 3 and MW1 massive hits, if those didnt have multiplayer, the games would have died years ago. The single-player is meant to be an appetizer, the main course is the multiplayer. Also you have spec-ops, so if you don't like getting killed all the time in multiplayer, you can get some fun out of killing less experienced beings. I also don't understand why some people are saying that the 5 hour campaign thing is a killer, MW1's campaign was less than 5 hours and nobody really bitched about it since the campaign was epic...its like if you're ordering a meal, would you order a big bowl of spaghetti with sh*t on it for a sauce or one small plate of spaghetti with meat sauce.

COd 4 will never die on PC cause it supports 64 players and dedicated servers and mods have existed that let you do things that this game is only just letting you do on the consoles now.

Yet your statement looks like your saying your paying 60 bucks for a 5 hour campaign. You mention nothing of its other features such as multiplayer. "

Anyone know the significance of the last clip, is S.S.D.D a Dev or just the name of the first  level in single player ? 

Giantbomb is my new favorite site, I haven't been really hyped for MW2 until I watched this, awesome review.

Well i was really pumped for this game in the beggining and then was very displeased de to the steam price but this does look like something im gonna have to check out.

Good review. Something tells me I'm really going to like the SIngle Player, just like I did in the last game. The Multiplayer in COD4 was fun, but it never made me addicted to it like it did for other people. That addiction for me is still TF2.

Wow people like to bitch about things. This game deserves Game of the Year. Who cares if the single player is short, multiplayer is where it is at in this game anyways. And the short single player is a high quality single player. I'm sure you hate the word fags too and it's another reason for you to hate the game. Or you're a PC elitist who thinks you deserve better. If you think either of these things, this is directed at you: SHUT THE FUCK UP!

What story is that?! Russian terrorists vs. american "good guys" wreaking havoc around the world, including Rio's slums, in a clearly 1st world vs. 3rd world conflict? The guys in Infinity Ward should study a little more history and geopolitics  before offending the rest of the world with another stupid "holywoodian" plot. I wish they could go back to the time of CoD1 and CoD2, where the plots were more "intelligent".

Considering this is "THE" first person shooter! It would have been nice to have a vertical cover (e.g. side of walls) and the ability to slide into cover... Just my thoughts of what holds it back from being perfect, but it is pretty damning good!!!

Yes, the single-player campaign is only 5 hours long, but it's 5 hours of awesomeness which barely gives you a chance to catch your breath. I would rather that than a bunch of filler to make the game longer. Plus there's the spec ops mode and multiplayer to add a ton of longevity.

singleplayer is a big letdown coming from cod4, some tricks might be good for the 1st couple times, but when u use them non-stop, it becomes really boring & annoying tbh. 
& wow @ the ai, u think it was bad in cod4, check out mw2, a funny little example, so, semi-sneaky mission, i slowly creep up on a soldier, he has his back towards me, just as i start to aim at him, he did a 180 turn & blasts away at me, being i'm playing at harden,of course his 1st shot messed up my aim & vision(god i hate those blood effects, fuck), next shot killed me. im sure the code is "player aiming at u = auto lock-on player & shoot", it wouldnt hurt to make it have a field of vision or something, would be nice, oh well.
the only thing still as good as cod4 from singleplayer is the presentation, great as usual.

Modern Warfare 2 looks really good. Now if only we can do something about Bobby Kotick being a douche all the time.
