@simkas: Dude come on. This is not a James Bond game by any standards. There are more gun attachments than actual gadgets.

By what standards are you basing that on then? Nightfire was a pretty basic FPS and that's considered by most as one of the best Bond games.

Here's something crazy actually....

A good "spy" type game was Mission: Impossible for the N64. Quality aside, it definitely wasn't all about shootin'.

@simkas: But that game had a stun gun, tranquilizers, night vision, a remote controlled shaver that fucking exploded, a sweet briefcase turret and grappling hook. Not just a phone and a laser you use outside of combat. This game is clearly focused more on the gun attachments and shooting your way through everything. You can't even move bodies, and it's a modern FPS. At least that would have made the stealth more viable.

There are totally 3rd person james bond games.

...Tomorrow never dies on the PS1 and...you know, others.

Everything Or Nothing on PS2/Xbox, which is probably still the best Bond game.

e: Oh they mention that in the vid. There's also From Russia With Love, notable for actually having Connery's likeness.

It was an fps but it was of a different kind. It had some futuristic weapons, grappling hooks, different ways to infiltrate areas in some of the levels (go underwater and find grates to crawl in, jump on trucks, sneak around windows). At its core it was a shooter yeah, but this here seems more like, well like the terrible Goldeneye rogue agent by EA. Or maybe not that bad, more like Call of Duty. The gameplay seems very similar.

Yeah Jeff is misremembering 007 games quite badly, I'd say there are as many third person bond games as there are first person bond games.

I can think of three third-person bond games from the past decade, but I can think of three first-person games from this generation alone.

I agree with Jeff. So far as I'm concerned, Everything or Nothing is by far the best Bond game, and the only one I ever enjoyed. Never cared for any of the first person ones (from what little I've played).

First person - Goldeneye, The world is not enough, Agent under fire, Nightfire, Goldeneye remake and now Legends

Third person - Tomorrow never dies, Everything or Nothing, From russia with love and Blood stone

And Quantum of Solace was really both a first and third person shooter.

So that's 6 against 4, not as many but pretty close.

On the other hand, Bloodstone came out and Jeff shits on it hard during the QL even though the game isn't that bad. That game went back to the 3rd person style games with great chase sequences, just like Everything or Nothing.

Never played it. EoE wasnt just chase sequences, it had you do a lot of different things throughout the game, but yeah Bloodstone didnt seem too bad. The review of that game didnt seem *that* negative btw.

The reason they've been sticking to FPS is because that's what popular in gaming.

I think this game looks neat. Can't say I've fought my way through a fighter jet factory or Fort Knox before.

the juxtaposition of levels from movies in the 60s and modern tech is really... odd. It makes it seem even more cynical. Also, literally all of the attachments are from CoD :D

As a Bond fan ( I own all the movies on DVD and now Blu Ray) this is rather disheartening. The Hitman series would actually make for a good starting point for a true Bond experience. I don't like the idea of making these missions take place in modern times.

Why was bonds car parked right outside of goldfingers complex? Also, just tell Vinny there will be gold at the end and you'll have yourself the next endurance run.

Something about a melee kill in this where you give them the old left/right combo, guess that the assault rifle you were holding is floating or tossed up in the air for a second to pull off that move. As a fan of the earlier Bond films before the remake with Daniel Craig this just doesn't quite work for me compared to some of the other Bond games in how it's more of a mixup of other Bond things into a new game since they couldn't just make a game based on the new movie coming out.

Between the lack of subtitles & Vinny's plan of a Grand Slam is just making this a fun QL to enjoy compared to playing the game.

The modern Bond movies really aren't about gadgets (and fun if you ask me), more a good but generic action movie. So I guess a generic game is a perfect fit.

I was with this game till they were mass producing Harrier jump jets in the same timeline as smart phones . The last Harrier was produced in 2003... but these guys are evil bad guy types so they may have stolen the Harrier blueprints from McDonnell Douglas or British Aerospace . Or it may not even be a Harrier per se , it may be a Hawker p.1127 or Hawker Siddeley Kestrel fga1 . Boy , has this game got some s'plaining to do.
