your right most non-asian people wouldn't know what that term means but that doesn't mean it should be changed, it's a game based in Hong Kong therefore they should keep the terms other wise why bother and just have it set in another American based city, I'm sure it would be explained in the game or manual what it refers to.

This game caught my interest at E3 when It was True Crime: Hong Kong. Kind of reminds me of those action-pack movies from Asia that love when I was a little kid.

I thought it was kinda stupid they had Georges St. Pierre advertising the melee combat for this game, but after seeing this a lot of the melee animation looks really awesome and actually a bit like martial arts. So far I'm impressed.

Those are the widest HK streets I've ever seen!

Having watched the developer walkthrough it's kind of amazing how many subtleties of combat Ryan's missed.

Crap! This whole time I kept hearing/seeing stuff about Sleeping Dogs, I thought it was Watch Dogs. I kept scratching my head through the whole QL thinking they changed the whole game up since Ubi's conference.

Can't wait to see the PC version and get rid of all those jaggies. The game looks pretty fun. Reminds me a bit of Just Cause 2, because of how outlandish some of the action is.

Wow, I'm pleasantly surprised about this. The True Crime games were terrible and, coming from that same lineage, I figured this wouldn't be any different, but it actually looks pretty decent. Interested to see how this all turns out.

However, it seems to copy just enough from Yakuza, GTA and Batman to make it interesting.

The game is kind of...funny. Looked a bit janky to me. Shooting is awkward. Stereotypes are awkward. It could still add up to a fun game to play in an open worls context .

Definitely going to get this for PC. I heard that the steam directory has a hi-res texture pack for the game. Hopefully it plays as fun as it looks.

Kinda funny how Ryan plays the shooting sequence the exact way the last trailer on this very site explains not to. Hopefully he figures it out while playing the rest of the game because it looked pretty fun.

Game looks good, I want it but I think I'm gonna have to get Darksiders 2 first.

Feeling really conflicted about this one:

On the one hand, the setting is really compelling, going back to the "motherland" sounds great, and it's clear that the developers have the best intentions (if not execution). On the other hand, not sure if I can handle a dead serious open world crime game again after SR3 and I wish the developers remember what happened the last time an "open world crime game set in Asia with an all-star English voice cast" was released.

Surprised a cop would lead someone to their cold murder, otherwise this looks like a shitty good time. That's a compliment.

This seems like a nice alternative to Yakuza, if your into those kinds of games.

@paulunga: Extrapolate that to every game and include Brad. Ryan and Brad suck at games and it ruins so many quicklooks because they always blame the game for them sucking at it.

@Gaff: Actually, they at least have some prominent Cantonese actors doing voice acting as well (Edison Chen). Granted, I only know about him from his nude photos scandal, so oh well. Kind of weird that main character is actually voiced by a Korean dude, but whatever.

This game looks pretty good, been a while since i've played a game like this. Hopefully they release before GTA 5, otherwise it will be dead in the water.

Ooh, looks cool. I went from not knowing anything about it, to remembering a bit (Oh yeaaah, Black Lotus/ True Crime: Hong Kong!) to being really interested in playing it. Seems fun!

Eh i dunno QL might have just unsold me on the game. Terrible graphics, animations are stilted and completely unnatural, parkour was underwhelming, melee combat seemed awkward, car camera is jerky as fuck, draw distance non existent. Phone minigame will get repetative fast.

The setting and story/dialogue/character bits are the only thing that are still holding my interest.

Too bad the trailers looked more promising. Way more on the fence of [wait and see how the PC version turns out] now.

Ryan was playing that sequence completely wrong. Look at the developer playthrough of the same mission. They want you vault over cover to trigger slow motion, not sit back and hide like Ryan did.

This looks awesome, at least the setting does so i'm really excited to play this.

I am amazed at how many people are ignorant enough to criticize the game for English being the primary speaking language. Hong Kong was occupied by the British for YEARS. Hell, my dad has a slight British accent and he's a Chinese man that grew up in Hong Kong.

@Gaff: At least the English voice cast feature Asian-American actors as the Chinese characters. There's some wiggle room (Will Yun Lee, the main character, is actually Korean), but it's a hell of a lot better than the alternative (Mark Hamill in Yakuza. Wut.).

@Gyrfal: I've hardly seen anyone 'criticize' it. I just wanted the option. I know people don't want to read all the time. It's just a preference.

And while about half of them do speak English, Cantonese and Mandarin are the most spoken languages there.

Wow that looks bad! And here was me thinking that the first video of the SAME mission made the game look bad.

Ryan obviously didn't check out that video before this QL as he is obviously not taking advantage of the vaulting slow mo business.

I can see this being a game to play whilst we all wait for a game we actually want to play comes out.

I'm "Wei" into this! I notice Ryan wasn't making use of the "vault over cover in slow-motion" mechanic, so I wonder if the shooting feels any better if you use that.

Regardless, this looks to have exactly what I want out of an open-world crime game. Shame they ditched the female character way back, I think that would've been cool. I mean, you can make your character a lady in Saints Row 2+, but it isn't quite the same. Plus, I love my hairless man-Boss too much to change it up there.

Wow I really like the slow-mo while driving and shooting. I was terrible at driving and shooting at the same time in GTA4 and SR3.

Having not seen this at all before, it does look interesting. Some nice advances in mechanics and animation on the GTA style of game. It's not enough to make me run out and buy it, but it's worth keeping an eye on it seems.

Slow-mo shooting while driving is highly welcome.

As long as you don't have to go bowling with your cousin every 5 minutes, I'll probably like this game.
