Man, this game looks awesome from what I have seen so far, I reaaaaaaaaally hope it turns out well.

Huh, wasn't Jeff just talking about how preview copies and stuff like that aren't a thing much anymore? Pretty cool to see a developer handing one out.

Cannot wait! FYI people that are on the fence, gram.pl had almost an 1+ hour preview of activities, driving, fighting and a couple of missions that have already been shown.

Thank goodness they decided to change this game to be about a male street thug. Truly the most underrepresented demographic in open world games. Except for, you know, every single one of them ever.

This game looks better than I initially expected, and probably as good as I hoped since E3.

Plus, a decent soundtrack. Is Ninja Tune like a go-to for video games? Not that I'm complaining, I really like the music on that label.

Shit, just listened to it again, Ninja Tune radio :). British Indie label getting theirs. Man, I hope this game's good, I wanna roll around Hong Kong blasting Ninja Tune radio, I could also do it in the game!

I think I'll take a look at this, it might look amazing with ICEnHancer.

Er, he's an undercover cop. How many other open-world games have an undercover cop as the main character? You certainly aren't one in GTA 3, Vice City, San Andreas or IV.

Oh man, this looks fun. Janky as all hell, and I can imagine that some of it will carry over to the final build (I just hope that the crazy pop-in doesn't), but I do love me some environmental fighting.

I love his blatant littering. FUCK THAT CAN AND THAT BOWL I' M A COP.

I thought across the street was a harbour or something... and then a whole city block appeared. Really insane popup. It better be not as bad in the final game.

As far as I know most people in Hong Kong can speak English on top of Cantonese, even though they probably don't speak English as much as in the game. It's still nice to see some characters speaking in Cantonese.

This game is looking quite good!

@audioBusting: It would be kinda hard to play if every single line of dialogue was in cantonese and was subtitled.

All this Cantonese is really weirding me out.

Looks rough in some spots but seems pretty cool. Too bad it's being released on the same day as Darksiders 2.

Holy shit, that was so cool when he just grabbed a car and ran some guys over instead of fighting them, I love that you can actually do that and aren't just locked into the current area until you beat everyone up.

Definitely how you play it...that second mission looked a whole lot more fun in the official Sqeenix video. This is going to fill a real GTA/Saint's Row sized void in my life for 2012, reckon it's going to sell pretty darned well.

Coincidentally, True Crime:Streets of LA, and True Crime: New York were open-world crime games where you are a cop. Not necessarily undercover all the time, but certainly more on the vigilante side.

However, LobsterMobster is right. The character is an undercover cop, but he is undercover as a street thug, which represents most open world games. It's more convenient to play as a vigilante disobeying the law rather than a cop who has to follow it. Wouldn't be much fun if the player had to follow the law.

The voices in this game sound like horrible caricatures, also this looks boring as hell.

"Sleeping Dogs" could not sound less like a video game, unless you put "Kane & Lynch 3" in front of it.

If this game is good and it doesn't sell, you can blame the title.

Weird choice of name for the protagonist. It's not a typical Cantonese name at all.

More of what people here call a "mainland" sounding name.

I really hope there's no pop-in in the PC version. There shouldn't be.

I am getting a pretty strong "Yakuza" feeling from this game, mainly the chase, the fights and the game-y items...

Looks like a very interesting game from what I've seen here; mostly, I'm intrigued by being in an open-world Hong Kong.
I'll definitely consider purchasing it.
