I think Vinny likes this game more than he wants to let on to Alex, or even himself.

At the end there he seemed on the verge of straight up saying, "I am going to finish this game."

Man, some real games need to start coming out. The recent Quick Looks have been fun to watch, but I fear we may lose the GB crews, East and West, to the abyss of insanity.

"Real" games are predictable and overexposed, though. It's nice to find out the weirdness to make for some entertaining viewing content. That's been Giant Bomb's MO from the start.

We should all strive for video games to recapture the sheer insanity of Dreamcast-era releases. Seriously. The focus grouping of video games is what gets us to a place of complacency.

Are we referring to Illbleed among those weird Dreamcast games? ;)

I react to this game much like I reacted to Deadly Premonition, in that it's humorously bizarre, really janky, and although I have no desire to play it myself, I would happily watch Vinny play through the whole thing.

I might agree with you here. The difference between this game and Deadly Premonition is that Deadly Premonition was a good game (story, tone, presentation, goofiness) behind some dated graphics and bad interface. Blackbay Asylum doesn't hold a candle to it, as much as we might want another experience like that. It's just kind of terrible.

I do have a higher tolerance for watching someone else play a bad game, however, and if Vinny does it, I'll watch because he's way more funny and entertaining than the game could ever be.

@luck702: Swedes made this game. Need I say more?

Swedes also made Cry of Fear, which is fantastically scary.

NATIONALITY WILL BE NO EXCUSE HERE.

This game didn't actually come out it's just a figment of Vinny's imagination.

This is like if all the albums I listened to in high school got together and made a point and click adventure game.

And people wonder why 8- and 16-bit graphical homages are so prevalent in the indie game scene.

Also, yes, Thomas the Tank Engine is what that face is.

@kubqo: I feel the same way about it but I doubt that it was intentional though.

I was really, really, really tempted to post "Hey! At least it's not sprites or SNES style!" as a joke. But I had a feeling that would probably get out of control, and I don't actually mind 8-bit or 16-bit style. But yeah, the thought had occurred.

Y'know, this doesn't seem especially well-made, but I guess it seems almost entirely put together by one guy doing everything to make a 3D point-and-click adventure/first person mashup. I can respect that. And it really does have an odd charm to it.

Certainly a little steep on the price tag, though.

I love that Vinny's the adventure game guy of the crew. His willingness to be enthusiastic about trying anything is perfect for them, and going from his top 10 lists he really does like the genre a lot.

This game's got gumption and chutzpah and other strange words, and I want to know where it goes from here.

Mmm, graphically this game is really nailing the 1999 vibe. It looks positively Half-Life and Deus Ex era.

Uh, I find this far more interesting and a better step in the indie game development scene than yet another Cave Story 'inspired' 2d retro puzzle platformer with the quirky mechanic and the chiptunes. I'd play this ten times over before putting a second glance at Owlboy.

And that's totally cool for you. I'm just saying: this game doesn't look good. Which is predictable. Because we can't expect every person scrapping a game together in their spare time to be a great impressionist, or whatever.

I can see this game having some interesting ideas, but man the execution seems to be the most horrifying part.

I think my favorite part of this is the beginning when Vinny asks Alex to guess what kind of game this is and then says we'll get in here so that I can show you that this is in fact... a point and click adventure game.

I've thought way more about this game than anyone probably should and I think I've figured out how to articulate my thoughts on it:

I'm not scared by this game, I'm scared of this game
