I think it's funny as hell. I keep hoping you play as Sean Hannity at one point.

I rather enjoyed Black Ops, but this looks dull as hell!

To be fair, showing off multiplayer first isn't the best way to win me over :D

To be fair, before launch there might be some places (especially with a CoD game) break the street date but found out that before the game launches many of the high ranking people playing (if the game is online) could be the people doing quality assurance testing. Since this is online, betting more on some people getting it early from the street date release.

Kinda cool that they tried to do something more with the single player, but still wonder who cares about the single player that much. They could have gone balls out and tried something really different and have kept the multiplayer the same and none of the hardcore COD players would have cared (I'm assuming here). The threshold for getting into the multiplayer seems so high with people already lvl 55 on the day of the release.

Single Player looks really interesting but not enough to shell out $65.

Hopefully amazon will have this for $30-40 during their week long black friday sale.

Are they still making these? And people buy them? With money? What the fuck? Fuck you, world.

Here guys, I'll give you a much cheaper alternative to Call of Duty:

  1. Go outside
  2. Find a traffic light
  3. When the traffic light turns green, raise your hand and say "pew pew pew!"
  4. Repeat

It's basically the same thing, and you can imagine you're playing a good videogame while you do it.

Also, I have to call Giant Bomb out on this. Call of Duty: Black Ops 2 the same thing all over again, but with new gun models and textures. Gameplay is nearly identical and improvements are minimal at best. If it wasn't for the UI, I wouldn't be able to tell any difference between this game and any other in the series.

Any other franchise you would have torn a new asshole by now for doing the same thing, but Call of Duty is sacred ground. Why? Do you want to avoid pissing off the fans? Do you rely on Activision's support and don't want to bad mouth them? Why do you seemingly refuse to criticize Activision over the fact that this style of gameplay got stale about 5 years ago?

How about the constant subscription and DLC crap? Do you really think paying for the game twice over for a handful of multiplayer maps is good value? Heck, you're even playing the exact same maps as from the previous game, and that's a selling point?

Last COD i played was BLOPs and i really didn't get into it as much as i did MW2, and seeing Nuketown first thing in the QL just reminded me of just how much i don't care for COD any more. I think next years will be cool hopefully it will be on a new system so they will be forced to change things up a bit.

I've enjoyed every Call of Duty game I've played, but as someone who doesn't play multiplayer, I find it impossible to get the least bit excited about a COD release. I'll rent it when there's nothing else to play and have a good weekend with it.

You're forgetting the fact that there are millions of people who still love this kind of gameplay and Black Ops 2 seems like a perfectly decent game if you do like that kind of gameplay.

So review scores are contingent on how popular a game is? Good to know. I'm glad the Giant Bomb community and crew are so sharply critical as to incorporate logical fallacies into review policy.

Dude, what's wrong with you? Review scores are not determined by how sick you are of certain types of games. Even if they change up little each year, these are obviously well made games. Sorry to break it to you but you're not the center of the gaming universe.

Wow that new perk system sounds like a tv gameshow.

Now Lamoniqa, you can either use your final pick 10, take the new grip, and go home... OR you can use a WILDCARD slot!

Those spawns in the multiplayer are very worrying. Also zombies seems to still be a shitty game mode. Especially when spec ops could be in there instead.

@sear: So I see you played every single one of those games, otherwise you couldn't have made such statements. So which one is it, are you part of the problem or just a regular ol' piece of shit whining about a game you haven't even played?

Nah I'm all for Ed Harris. Just thought it was funny that David S. Goyer who co-wrote the screenplay for Batman Begins and the story for Black Ops 2 hires on Batman.

Is Vin Diesel the announcer? Also, I like some of the loadout changes and it is nice that they are trying new things with the single player. Still pretty sure I'm done with the series for a bit though.

I'll never understand the appeal of this multiplayer. You die in like 2 seconds, come back. die in 2 seconds, etc.

Mind you that's what I assume the average casual player would be like.

@sear: So just because you think that the review isn't in line with what you think the game should have gotten, you went ahead and accuse the reviewer and the site of selling out? Really? I was with you for the first few paragraphs until you reached that point. Its clear that Jeff still really liked the game as a whole, including the changes they made to the campaign, despite the MP was only slightly tweaked and being pretty much the same game. You're just thinking of this irrationally at that point. I do share the same sentiment with you regarding this game franchise but not to the extent of actually calling out the reviewer of being a sell out.

I was in the same boat but I ended up preordering it last week. After seeing the reviews though, the campaign looks like it has made strides in being different and more relevant. I don't want to play a modern warfare game again but I will play Black Ops and Treyarch games.

Jeff seems to be really hung up on the zombie part of this game. Can't it just be a goofy diversion? Does it really have to be "understood." I think it's cool they are able to add something lighthearted.
