Quick Look: Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3

I've been having my videos buffer a lot recently and  this has never happened to me with Giant Bomb before.. What's up? It's certainly not my end.

People bitch and moan about modern warfare getting old and not being anything special, then I see a bunch of dudes being thrown around in slow motion inside a plane due to turbulance and being slammed in to the ceiling and I think "fuck you, this is awesome".

Seems like a well made game. I might not buy it, but I don't think people should complain so much.

Jeff's constant cry of "we're fine, we're fine!" made me laugh a good bunch. Keep up the good work Jeff.

All this talk about "Spec Ops" reminded me: What happend to "Spec Ops: The Line"?

Hope you're ready for two three more years of COD games on this very same turgid engine. MW2 had higher quality resources for its PC version. It also had a single-player campaign that was slow and relaxing with a serious story in comparison. MW3 SP's horribly Bruckheimered.
 
..but it's so much better than what Black Ops delivered.

Feels like these videos had far better quality when they weren't youtube-hosted.

If this game was a movie (which it so obviously wants to be) it would get torn apart critically.

Yeah, I have no idea why these games have never gotten the sound of gunfire right. In Black Ops they all sounded the same, in MW3 they all just sound fake.

As an outsider to the post Call of Duty labeled Modern Warfare games, it seems like I'm watching an entirely different game, from a single player story perspective.

Enjoying the game, even though it is definitely starting to show its age. Bring on the next gen version of Call of Duty please.

Seems okay but won't get it until it's cheap because there is too many games that I want ahead of it this year

I really don't get why people like things to be paced like Modern Warfare. Yeah, its "on" all time, and that sounds good on paper, but if you constantly try to one-up yourself the exciting parts just start to feel routine.

It also leads to your game/movie/book to be extremely forgettable.

Yes, it's because YouTube uses much higher compression on their site, even though it's still 480p.

Also, this has been brought up about 1.2 million times on various video comments since they made the switch to YouTube.

Gotta give Acti credit; I never finish CoD campaigns, or play the multi in 'em for very long, but I still want this. They're doing something right. Love BF3 but the small bugs/snags are starting to get to me. :|

I still really enjoy these MW emblems. The moustache cat is just fucking amazing and has a nice requirement attached to it. Also, call me an idiot but I do like that Joint Ops design although it seems to be quite a bit oldschool Cypress Hill derivative but whatever. Having assisted while being baked instead of actually killing fools is a pretty self-aware requirement too.

Ha-ha, the Air Force-1 part reminded me of Inception with Joseph Gordon-Levitt fightin' dudes while in free-fall. Yeah, this is Modern Warfare. Since I'm only interested in the single-player I can wait a year or more for this one.

The ZT videos do read as 360p though.. which is quite a bummer. Sorry for reposting, for some random reason I didn't read any comments about this before. So, did the crew even mentioned something about it or are they just "meeeh you guys don't pay us anyways"

Watching this has made me decide I'm kinda sick of COD. The next shooter I get will be Battlefield 3 for sure.

I think this is the first time I've completely finished a games single player before they did a quick look.

Watching this made me realize, "wow this looks just like MW2, and wow there are so many campers its Lolable."

Modern Warfare 3 - "I have a jam eating problem, I can't get it into my mouth". And shoot dudes!

I told myself I wasn't interested in this series anymore but damn it doesn't half look like fun. I never stuck with the competitive multiplayer beyond CoD4 but the Spec Ops stuff is cool.

So, I heard this game had dog tags.

Man, this is the 5th Call of Duty on Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 (not including Call of Duty 2 or 3). Even the subset of MW has finished a trilogy's worth. It's basically a sports game now. I think I'm done with the series; my interest barely got me past the 2nd and 3rd of those 5.

Guess I'll just be cynical until Activision kills it. 2 and 4 were two of my favourite games, now I'm apathetic to it all.

Man the guns in this game sound fucking awful.

The realism they've achieved in these modern games creeps me out a little; I'm getting old.

I'm not going to lie, the horde mode looks like a blast. It sucks that Battlefield had such dull as dirt "Spec-Ops" levels. I don't plan to get MW3, but there's definitely things that series does well.

As for COD's future, there's nothing that says COD has to be a "thing" people buy year after year. A lot of series' have dried up and died out, the idea that people are desperate for modern day warfare is also silly, since gamers lived without it for awhile.

I kept thinking Jeff should get in that tank in the Horde mode map. Guess I've been playing too much BF3.

This quick look is so depressing. You can tell the guys are bored to death of Call of Duty, hardly anyone is talking. The Battlefield 3 TNT however was a blast to watch, everyone was having fun.

So World at War had exploding body parts... just to remind you, yes, it has been in the series before.

Definately gonna have to give this a rent some time for the single player. I'm burnt out on CoD and FPS's in general but I really want to see how the story ends. Seems like a crazy thing to say with these games, but I've really enjoyed the story an characters in the past.

I have to completely agree good sir. I'm completely burnt out on FPS and pretty much COD period, but I'd love to see how it all ends. My rental list just grew by one.

AK 47 eh? still? Man, Russians don't even use AK 47s anymore, and the gun sounds are still terrible... but even so, I'm sure I'll pick this up eventually.
