Patrick thinks this game is "unnecessary" yet is relieved that the original graphics are included. Also, you don't get to act all righteously indignant if you played 2 or 3 hours of the original game. That's like saying you've seen 10 minutes of Yojimbo and looking down on those who enjoy A Fistful of Dollars. Anyway, Patrick is expressing a lot of those types of opinions lately and it seems to be rubbing off on the rest of the crew. Kind of bums me out.

I'm a big fan of the original Cave Story, and I really like the 3D graphics. It annoys me that Patrick hasn't even completed the game, yet he's going on about how much the new graphics offend him. Cave Story wasn't about being a throwback for nostalgia's sake -- it was a great game by any standard that, I believe, was constrained by Pixel's (the original creator) lack of sufficient time and money to make a fully modern game. I like good 2D graphics, so I really like the original's style. It was able to squeeze a lot of personality from a very limited palette. But this version is probably closer to what Pixel envisioned when he set out to make the game. Honestly, this is the first 3DS game that I've been really excited about.

Cave Story+ is now on Steam. It has everything the DSi version had and has Steam achievements. It's the version to get.

It bums me out more than a little bit that no one on the Giant Bomb staff has actually finished Cave Story.

What kind of video feature do we need to make that happen?
