Quick Look: Deus Ex: Human Revolution

Seems like a weird time to jump into the game. I've played for a pretty long time and still haven't seen this mission yet

this is further in the game than I am.  not watching scared of spoilers.  :)

Man, when Jeff was jumping up and down on the bed talking to that lady, I had a very clear vision of a very serious and emotionless looking Jensen hopping up and down with one arm holding a future cell-phone and the other straight down by his side, hopping up and down by only moving his ankles.  It was quite hilarious to me for some reason.
 
Also, I need this game now.  Looks very fun.

And Steve Jobs just stepped down today, for health reasons.

I think I'm going to buy this game. It looks like pretty, fucking good game.

I'm about five hours into this game and I'm fucking loving it. I could be biased since I'm a fan of the genre, but this has to be right up there with Mass Effect for me.

I never had any ammo issues at all, probably because I was a lot more anal about being stealthy.

The voice actor for the main character does a really good impression of Christian Bale's Batman.

All I can say is get a chat pad for your XBOX.

I live in Denmark and received my copy one day early, but since it's the PC version Steam is being a dick and saying "You can't play this game yet because it's not out"

Even the Jensen figure is displeased... You can tell by his furrowed brow that he did not ask for this.

It's a fantastic game even with the few problems like load times and iffy AI. 
The biggest thing for me was just seeing it wasn't a pile of crap, which is pretty much what I'd been expecting when it was announced.

Like Vinnie, I love reading the Codex.  I've read every
codex for Dragon Age & Mass Effect.  I even read the
planet descriptions for every planet in Mass Effect 1 & 2.

You guys must have been using amunition up everywhere. One of the comments was "It doesn't give you a lot of ammo". I found it gives you more than enough. I consistently keep all my guns at maximum range.  Between all the dead bodies that carry ammo plus the ammo you find hidden away in areas or going by in combat. There is plenty, ive never run out of ammo on my handgun, shotgun, & revolver.

Dear god, that black homeless woman's voice acting is cringeworthy on all sorts of levels, and doesn't even fit the character model. Just... who thought that was a good idea? The Chinese accents aren't great either, but at least that's in line with the first game.

Kind of unrepresentative of the game really, the core part of the experience for me is the excellent missions which involved either stealth or combat.  I know the AI is iffy, but still, the missions are the thing for me.

The PC doesn't spank the console version. The lighting is better, richer, and more contrasty and the textures are cleaner by a bit. Obviously you get the crisp anti-aliasing and anistropic filtering makes looking into the distance a lot nicer. But when you're in the options cranking up all these options and checking that DX11, I kind of expected a more dramatic change.

Also surprised that even though Jeff was finishing two versions of the games and was pretty far along. He didn't know that you can bust down doors by using your guns. But then I didn't even realize I could open drawers until I was pretty far into the detroit missions! Oops.

Also Vinny brings up that the apartment they were in was clean. Well its amazing how much detail there actually is in most buildings/offices/homes to show off that they are places where people work and live. Lots of clutter.

I believe the reason for the high-lighting for objects on the console versions is that your sitting far away. Maybe you can turn it off (I think you can enable it in the PC version). But on the PC version for me there is a small contextual ui prompt telling me I can say "Hit E" to climb a ladder, you have to be damn close for it to pop. I think that UI would look ugly blown up on a TV. The UI differences between PC and Console are nice, notice how Jeff has a hot bar on PC versus the wheel on the Xbox during QuickLook.

I also never had a problem with ammo so far. But I was playing this game like I would MGS, as little action as possible and heavy on the stunning and tranquilizing.

Well said. I agree that the AI is not as bad as they make it out to be, AI in other games can be just as disappointing. Your mention of Mass Effect 2 is perfect for comparison. This AI is as competent as the one found in Metal Gear Solid 4, to me at least. As for the voice acting I have only found minor NPC's to be annoying, or in the case of "Latisha" ...well Alex Navaro says it best: "UN-FUCKING-BEARABLE". The rest of the acting I find, super subjective whether people like it or not.

Looks pretty good. Might pick this up in a Steam sale. I've got too much on my plate right now.

This looks pretty amazing but I'm beyond uncoordinated when it comes to FPS. Not something I'll be picking up, most likely.

Only got playing 2 hours of this game and then my PS3 decided to break but what I played of it is awesome. Really dig the world and story but jeff is right about the combat

Why are there a bunch of bicycles everywhere? Isn't this the future? Where my hover-bikes at?

I had no ammo problems becuase I picked up the dropped guns not just searched the bodies...

Thought it was a typical GB quick look, really underwhelming of the final product yet the game itself is tremendous.

The art of break dancing is truly lost if that guy is the last break dancer in the future.

weird, I'm JUST doing this same mission right now....I never asked for this.

Been playing for a few hours now and finally came back to watch this. Not very representative of the game in my experience, but still enjoyed the QL. I absolutely hated the combat/stealth sequences at first, but they finally clicked a little while ago. Loving the game now.

I disagree with Jeff. I quite like most of the voice acting, even Mr. Sarif. 

The guys were talking about the glowing objects. Maybe I'm an elitist, but I tried for a few hours and couldn't live with it. Turned off object highlighting and those on-screen waypoints and I'm liking the feel of the game a lot more now. I like the idea that if I'm not diligent, I may not find everything. Not sure, maybe you can't change that stuff on the console version. Engrossing game so far.

Kind of reminds me of a Blade Runner type atmosphere.

Just convinced me to get this game. Looks incredible, and I think I'm going to force myself to stick to stealth. Seems like it'll be more fun.
