Is it just me or is the game audio super quiet? I cant hear the ingame dialogue at all without making Alex and Austin and Vinny super loud. Who knwows, for this game that may be a good thing xD

I once again admire Vinny for trying to find something positive in a terribad game like this, though I think even he gave up on it eventually. Won't blame him, this just looks like extra flaming garbage!

The bit about Kessler Syndrome made me think about Planetes, which features that mechanism substantially in the story. It's a good anime about fairly realistic near-future space exploration/exploitation.

The main characters are literally space sanitation workers, tasked with cleaning up orbital debris from catastrophic failure of artificial satellites.

Wow, hot garbage.

Despite everything I still think this can be a super fun game if you dont expect too much from it/are ok with ps2 era clunkyness.

Curious about the quicklook though, cant immagine alex wil go easy on this game haha,

If the Hell Killer franchise got to a 4th installment, i would probably check it out. Surely there must be something worthwhile in it.

This game looks really bad, but not quite as horrendous as I was expecting or how Alex built it up on the Beastcast

This game's tattoo and music business is because Devil's Third is pulling a ton from the Japanese legend of Mimi Nashi Hoichi from Kwaidan.

I wonder if Ivan is supposed to be blind like Hoichi? Or maybe that's what his sunglasses are representing? Guessing his ears get chopped off by the last boss or something.

Kinda cool for a poop game.

Too bad it sucks - it looked pretty cool when the trailer debuted in like, 2012. Then again, I thought Gun Loco looked dope as fuck.

Yes definitely isn't kanji, although some of the characters look close to one, with a little variation to it, so I was thinking it was just all made up. "Fake Japanese" as I see in a lot of futuristic games.

I actually feel sorry for that other guy in the MP match, the one who does know how to play the game.. he's just looking to have a good time... =/

I don't see why this is being hated on to be honest. It looks about the same quality as Yakuza 5 to be honest, standard Japanese game. It doesn't look broken.

I think they felt it would be racist to fill Guantanamo Bay with middle eastern people so they filled it with black people...

Also, this reminds me of 50 cent: Blood on the Sand.

Boy this was a fantastic year for "bad" games. Everytime GB guys find something offensively bad, i only see it as average at worst.

This doesn't look good, but it really feels like these guys went in trying to dislike it. Alex has played this game up to the third chapter and still can't seem to do the most basic actions when prompted in the tutorial sections.

There are actual games that are complete broken garbage, so calling this "hot garbage" when it really seems more like "mediocre third person action" just seems inaccurate and like they're trying to pile on the popular target.

@engineno9: Normally I don't like to respond to comments like this, but I take umbrage with the notion that I ever go into games wanting to hate them. I don't. Sometimes games people call out as bad surprise me, and I always try to keep an open mind when initially playing any game. Devil's Third is not such a game.

I've played a lot of bad games in my career, so I try to reserve my actual distaste for stuff that warrants it, and Devil's Third warrants it. This is one of the worst things I've played all year. If we were having GOTY deliberations now instead of a few weeks ago, I'd have raised this as a viable contender for worst game of the year. I don't think it would have made it to the top three, but we would have had a conversation about it.

Just because something is working mostly as intended doesn't mean it can't be awful. Devil's Third seemingly works mostly as intended, and the way it's intended to work is awful.

Much love for GBEast getting so much output done while the west seems to have different holiday season laws or rules at the west office altogether or is it just a fact of SF life that makes you want to spend as little time as possible there?

Perhaps if Alex had remembered how to do a melee shot, he would have loved the game. Or maybe not.

I think it has more to do with the SF office simultaneously moving/rebuilding their studio and editing the GotY stuff. GBEast is just covering for them until they're finished with that.

The game is impossible to find for less than $100 in the states.
