Man, ya'll totally need to do a QL for the Ultimate Ninja Storm games. It's an anime fighter you can actually have fun playing without needing to be either a fan of the license or fighting game expert. The PC version just came out so there won't be any framerate problems either. AND there's a single-player mode whose boss battles make Asura's Wrath look like Proteus.

Vinny's breakdown of Dragon Ball is gold. I feel a mastery of the subject flowing through me like spirit energy.

I feel sort of like I already know the plot and characters of DB/DBZ despite never watching a single episode from front to back.

It's a shame these games always turn out kinda crappy. I think the Dragon Ball universe has the potential to spawn a really great game. Too bad no one wants to make anything but clunky ass " recap " games.

I think there's way too many fighting type games revolving around DBZ, if they want to tell the story in a way these guys can understand, why not make an RPG around DBZ?

DBZ to me is the anime that makes anime look bad to people who don't watch anime.
When folks who aren't into anime think of anime, I think they assume every anime out there is like DBZ, when this is absolutely not the case whatsoever.
If you haven't found an anime to your specific tastes, you just aren't looking hard enough. ^.^

Man, and here I thought Vinny was flying the DBZ flag at Giant Bomb... This is painful to listen to.

If you interpret every element of fictional worlds not representative of reality as magic and the basic rules of a wizard is ''uses magic'' then yes, Goku is a wizard.

If you go with the specific fiction of dragon ball and street fighter than no, Ryu and Goku aren't wizards.

Every couple of years a DBZ game comes out, and I think "man that looks awesome," and I try to get into it. Then I find the gameplay to be entirely incomprehensible. I expect this will be no different.

I wouldn't classify Saiyans as wizards. Now if you want to debate if Nameks have wizardly powers I'll listen to you. Throughout the show Kami and Piccolo did many magical acts like materializing clothing and items from nothing.

I really hope there's someone watching this video & just getting into Giantbomb and is now convinced Brad is an anime expert.

The Kinect game looks more fun than this.

I'll always have a soft spot for DBZ, but man this game looks terrible. If Jeff's only ever exposure to DBZ are terrible DBZ games and Linkin Park music videos, then no wonder he hates it.

I didn't think the DBZ intro theme could be any worse than it already was, but that's one hell of a re-recording.

Edit: Man, I would really like to hear Vinny abridge a few other anime.

Budokai Tenkaishi 3 is still the best Dragon Ball Z game. Jeff is right, straight up Budokai is just a mediocre fighting game with a dragon ball skin but those Budokai Tenkaishi games actually look like super fast pace dragon ball when you learn the basic flow of gameplay.

Also, Battle of Z looks like garbage! A dragon ball Z game where you can't power up? Powering up is like half of the appeal of the franchise.

The story Jeff made up in the beginning would be better than anymore DBZ.

Also, I think I might have stumbled onto something. DBZ is the new Dynasty Warriors. It's the same thing, the constant retelling of the same story. Now granted one's historically based, but really, isn't the story of Goku and friends part of history by now (no I don't mean Journey to the West, that's what DB was for)?

Just give the DBZ license to Platinum Games let them make up there own separate story line and you'll have your good DBZ game.

Vinny's hazy DBZ memories and Jeff's utter hatred for the franchise always make these quick looks the best.

Nope give it CyberConnect2. They've done the Naruto series justice and in some cases surpass it in the presentation of the Ultimate Ninja series.

@tmbaker: Yeah. I feel like a character-action game - like Bayonetta, Devil May Cry, that sort of thing - would be a really great fit for DBZ.

Damn, these DBZ games get more broken as they progress, each one seems worse than the one that came before it.

I'm predicting the future for the end of this quick look. Dragonball Z rocks, this game sucks.
