OK so you mean to tell me they do a Ducktales QL, tease the Moon the entire time, and then never go to the goddamn moon?

DuckTales along with Gummi Bears were my favourite, but I was 7 in 1989.

Teasing the moon level in the beginning and then not even playing it for 10 seconds for the sake of music automatically relegates this quick look to one of the worst of 2013. Idiotic decision.

Like a bunch have said Scrooge and Magicka's VO's are both 90 and Launchpad is in his 70's and after their illustrious careers gotta cut them a little slack.

I agree. I think it's really cool that they reprised their roles one last time, older-sounding or not. I'm willing to forgive a lack of enthusiasm for legacy's sake.

It's like Connery's performance as James Bond in the From Russia With Love game from last gen. Yeah, it's not quite the Connery Bond you remember, but fuck...it's Sean Connery as James Bond again.

Having watched some Ducktales on DVD pretty recently, I can say that the voice acting is pretty exactly the same as it was on the show, just with the actors being older, Scrooge's and Magica's V.A.s being in their 90s now. I was 5 or 6 when Ducktales first came on TV, so I was pulled in deep, watched the show every day, got the game for my birthday one year, had plushes of Scrooge, the Nephews and Webby. I get Jeff's complaints about the pacing and cadence of the acting, but I like both the show (and the original NES game) too much for that to dissuade me.

Yeah, no, TaleSpin was awful. That has nothing to with age. I was born in 86 and I thought most of that stuff was great: DuckTales, Rescue Rangers, Darkwing Duck. But TaleSpin, oooph. Though still better than just about anything ever produced by Hanna-Barbera. Notable exceptions: Lucky Luke, their late-90s stuff that was done by other people.

Wow I can't believe how much of a dick this sucks.

Looks great but wow was the gameplay one of the biggest shits I ever saw.

Now after watching this, just thinking of Bionic Commando Rearmed gives me a giant boner.

I played some of the original game growing up, though I don't have any particular fondness for it. Never got very far and probably found the non-linearity of the levels confusing.

The show on the other hand I really liked, but I grew up with different voice actors so having that there doesn't really do anything for me.

Their name's are weird. I've only known the German version of the series in which Scrooge is called Dagobert and the kids are not Huey, Dewey and Louis but Tick, Trick and Track :D Can't remember the girls name, though :P

Yeah, He was called Dagobert in Dutch too, the kids were called Kwik, Kwek and Kwak, the girl was called Lizzy. Launchpad was called Turbo McKwek.

The beagle butler's surname is Duckworth. Clearly, the Duckiverse has its own dark history of slavery.

Oh you Americans, thinking DuckTales invented the characters and Duckburg setting. It's actually an adaptation of Carl Bark's comics, which the rest of the world was reading for decades before the cartoon came around.

Oh, don't you see? That's just satire. He's trying to sound as high and mighty as Americans usually do.

I'm joking, that was pretty dickish.

@jeff Do the ducklings ride with Scrooge in the mine cart on occasion, and if they do, does Scrooge jump out to let them plummet to their deaths like in the original?

@vinny and @brad When you were going on about Flintheart, all I could think about was my favourite Ducktales episode where Flintheart and Scrooge had a race to fill up two gigantic scales with their treasure to weigh and see who was ultimately richer.

Dogs do seem to get a weird deal in Duckburg. Besides being butlers, criminals and policemen, there are weird situations like Mickey having a dog as a pet, but also a humanoid dog for a best friend.

Yeah, Launchpad was a bit of a klutz, but he "always pulled it out in the end... Where it really counted"... *ziiiip*

I knew exactly who you were talking about when you started mentioning him, Vinny.

Flintheart Glomgold was a fucking boss in the comics.

He also lived in a badass moneyvault in the middle of the South-african savanne.

I'd recommend anyone who genuinely loved these characters to check out everything by Don Rosa. He's the one true artist of the entire Duck franchise for me.

Oh, and on the topic of variations on names based on language/geography, the French names for the characters were:

Scrooge: Picsou
Huey, Dewey, and Louie: Fifi, Riri. Loulou

That mission hub where you get to dive into the money bin for no reason reminded me of Ducktales: the Quest for Gold

In that game there was a chance that Scrooge McDuck would find a rare coin worth $1000 so it was worth doing occasionally.

It's all the same voice actors..they're just much much older now...

Buying this on nostalgia fueled endorphin rush alone..

Quoted to underline the fact. These aren't bad attempts at recreating the voices, they are the original VO cast.

Yeah, listening to other podcasts, a few of which with Capcom employees guesting, I knew that the secured all the original voice cast (English voice cast, at least). Some of them are super old, but they are all the same VO artists.

Is it time we shared the intro in each of our respective languages?

Loading Video...

Also, an Icelandic comedy group made this mock trailer for a Danish Dogma-style Donald Duck film. The Danish comes from the fact that Disney comics were imported from Denmark, untranslated, for the first decades, so many kids learned the "educated language" from those comics. Also, Danish criminal films kick ass.

I played the NES DuckTales a couple of months ago for the first time and found it fun. I dunno, I think this game wouldn't seem so boring if they just cut the banter out. It's incredible how they got practically the original voice cast back for this game (I'm the only one that thought the performances were actually kinda good?), and I can understand how needed it is if you're gonna do a reboot of something so old like DuckTales, but having a tv-show-like script just isn't translating too well. Needs to be faster all-around.

The witch fight pretty much encapsulates the Capcom experience. Capcom games tend to ignore the rule of three.

The cutscenes should have been skippable. I did not quite like the jabs at the voice acting. These are the original people, just older.

Seems wrong to get this on anything but Wii U.

Capcom needs to capitalize and get the original released on the Virtual Console as well...unless the original is unlockable somehow in Remastered.

I knew that the secured all the original voice cast (English voice cast, at least).

Now there is the rub -- I appreciate them going all out on this, but I don't give a quack about the US voices and I really doubt they make this effort internationally (besides, I don't remember our local dub anyway). Without that connection, the game looks kinda bad. But I was not a huge fan of the original game either, to be fair.
