I played enough of the first game to know that I didn't hate myself enough to play it any more. Basically, I'm only a fan of these games if they aren't a deliberate throwback to stuff that came out in 1981 for the Apple II.

Kessler QL's are always fun, even when the games are not.

Sometimes Kessler sounds like a PR dude talking, way too enthusiastic, even when he doesn't like something. That's kinda annoying. But I like how he knows to point out the systems of the games.

They should put those map making tools on a Castlevania game or something thats not a JRPG.

Ugh, another DS JRPG. Just not my type of game. I think Matt is doing pretty well, though.

Fuck another Kesser quicklook, I'm not even going to bother watching it.
Thanks a lot kessler you ruined my streak of watching every single video giantbomb has put on their site.

I was hoping Matt would Mellow out and stop trying so hard by now....the great thing about all the other Giant Bomb guys is how natural and chill they are on the Quick Looks. It's like hanging out with your friends and watching them play a game. 
 
But Matt has that "Little Brother trying to be funny by talking loudly and oddly" vibe..... But I'm sure he'll chill out eventually...hopefully...

I like the Giant Bomb version of hazing the intern - making them review and Quick Look the dozens of generic JRPGs released for the DS every week.

Can everyone stop saying, "I hate Matt, he tires too hard blah blah blah". He is an intern, no shit he is going to try hard, its better to try too hard then to be extremely awkward or timid and not try at all. I'm sure he hasnt done anything like these quicklooks before where he has the pressure of a hell of a lot of people watching as well as the pressure to make them interesting, and I think he is doing a decent job. Its like everyone expects him to jump onto the giant bomb team and immediately become "one of the guys". Give the kid some time to get used to doing things in his own way instead of trying to fit into how the GB guys do stuff. 
 
He is an intern, and he is there to learn from the GB guys who have years and years of experience. So get off his back for not being as funny or as good at this as they are.

I don't begrudge Kessler enjoying these games but I have no idea how you can regularly play these games. Especially at the same time.

This is the only QL I have ever seen, and I've seen them all, that I really didn't like. I understand EO is a very niche series that most people aren't remotely interested in and is very deliberately paced, but that doesn't excuse Kessler's poor preparation for it or Ryan's shitty attitude. I don't mean to go on a huge rant here, but Kessler should have started by creating a party member, showing off the different classes (which is core to the game), then go to a floor he hadn't been to yet and started mapping (showing off the mapping tools). Being kind of jerk is Ryan's thing (and I love him for it), but his demeanor in this was way too negative and uninterested. If you are going to act like that just don't be on the quick look. 
 
Giant Bomb doesn't do quick looks of every game realeased (and they don't need to) and I think they should have passed on this one. If no one was interested in doing it they just shouldn't have done it. Usually, at least, with games they don't like they keep it entertaining and funny. I don't know; whatevs, I guess I'm just a little disappointed.

I love these dungeon-crawly games, but I might prefer them with an auto-map feature. If I draw a wall where there is no wall, it knows I'm wrong. And it's laughing at me.
