My interest for the Wii U just went up two notches. Which still is pretty low, but still. The game looks great.

edit: oh, it comes to the PC aswell. My interest for the Wii U just went down two notches. Not hating on the system though, I'm actually more excited in the Wii than in the next Xbox or playstation right now

The multiplayer alone made me wish I were picking it up on Wii U instead of PC, but this and Zombie-U ain't justification enough to be grabbing a new console just yet. Will still be picking it up when it comes out on Steam though, will be rad regardless.

I already knew I was getting the new Scribblenauts but now I'm not so sure that I'll be getting it on the 3DS.

Having a bored-sounding guy they sent over talk about internet memes in Scribblenauts actually put me off buying this. I know the fun of Scribblenauts is stuff like that but... eughhh...

He did sound bored, but he always does. Also he's one of the co-founders of 5th Cell, so not necessarily just some guy they sent over. Really he's the guy, and probably sent himself. But yes, he could sound more upbeat. Felt like he did a fine job of showing the game though.

More than a mistake it seems a little disappointing. I say this because there is probably a reason behind not having direct button mapping, they would have to make a whole lot of testing to have buttons assigned to every possible combination of objects, which I'm guessing is not and esay task.

It's a really good time waster. I have it on the DS, but to me it's more fun on the iPad/iPhone, as you can pick it up and play it quickly whenever. Really great because friends who don't play games can pick it up really quick and start creating some awesome situations with various things.

Once I have money I will totally buy a 3DS for this game. I still have a copy of Super scribblenauts beside my bed for when I can't sleep. For some reason seeing which monster will win in a fight or creating a fictional doctor who calms me. I am interested in seeing if there's all that weird religious stuff in this game. In the first one the priest was invincible, same with altar boy, rabbi, and I'm sure a lot of other stuff. Weird that god wasn't though.

There was direct button mapping for use of objects in Super Scribblenauts for the DS, so it shouldn't be too much trouble. Also, I wouldn't count out the possibility that you can just use the buttons. The dev's may have just made the option of menu combat for those who only want to use the touch screen.. not sure.

Not a lot of pixel art can always translate well to large resolution, usually based on how those pixels are rendered (hand-drawn or vectored).

In the case of Scribblenauts, it looks to be vectored, which has a much better time upscaling to higher resolutions because it's based on a polygonal vector which is meant to be stretched.

Hand-drawn 2D pixel art generally gets worse at larger resolutions because the pixels just end up stretching. For example, if you look at that recent Jo-Jo's Bizarre Adventure re-release, it looks terrible because they still used the original sprites which just ended up being stretched for large resolution displays. But if you look at that Street Fighter 2 HD Remix, those hand-drawn sprites look really good because that art was completely re-drawn for HD resolutions.

Can pixel art be made with vectors though? I would think that pixel art means it's actually drawn pixel by pixel, which seems contrary to how vectors work.

Sorry, that's just me using the term "pixel" very loosely based on how it appears to an end-user.

In the actual design of it, yes you are correct, because vector graphics are geometrical shapes, points, lines, curves, and polygons - not actual pixels.

I did not notice, I hope it's like you said. I can see them assigning buttons to the main character (I think they have already done this in the previous games, I have not played them) because he is a fixed object, but the coop-players that can be any object including objects that interact with other objects seems a little harder to pull off.
