@dudacles: You have to pay for it because it comes with a bunch of new quests and 10 more levels. Broken Steel isn't just there to fix the ending.

hmmm im not 100% sure but i think this video has spoilers in it. not sure though. If there are any spoilers they really should say so before the video starts which they obviously haven't done :P

- I didnt ever want to get caught short of gear
- but why do you have an assault rifle and a chinese assault rifle?
-incase my chinese assault rifle gets damaged to the point where the assault rifle does more damage

Having played this all on PC i'm amazed how slow the load times are on the xbox in comparison. i can imagine it being very jarring if i went back to FO3 on my 360.

I'm with Jeff on the end to this game.  It makes sense to send Fawkes or Charon into the chamber at the end and the game.  They're both immune to radiation!  Before Broken Steel the game won't let you send them and then after it does but call you a coward for doing it?  Screw them. 
 
Anyway, I sent Sarah into the purifier and poisoned the water.  I was the worst thing the wasteland ever saw when I played through Fallout 3.

I wholeheartedly agree with Jeff, yeah i coulda sacrificed myself but Fawkes can't die so the whole selflessness thing is tottally moot.  I could've killed Fawkes when i first met him but i choose not to, i didn't even know that he'd be needed for that mission. 
 
The fact that there was originally a dialog option involving Fawkes ther implies that the devs thought of that but they left it out of the game.

really old, but skill points are determined by (other than perks) 10+your intelligence skill, so if you have a 10 in intelligence you'll have 20 skill points to use, etc.

I personally disagree with Jeff's opinion about the ending. I kind of understand why they made it so you have to go in or you aren't a hero or whatever it was. Yeah, it is smarter to send in the dude immune to radiation but that really wouldn't make you a hero, it would make Fawkes a hero. Just my opinion though

I just finished Fallout 3 and I agree, the ending sequence is the worst shit I've ever seen. Ruined the game for me too.

I just started Fallout 3 for the first time last week. I'm about 75% through the main story and am going to do a bunch of side stuff before hitting all of the DLC. Even though I'm sure I would have ended up picking Fawkes myself, I'm glad I saw this because I didn't know that Fawkes was a choice that could not be implemented for the ending. Overall, even though I'm four years late to the party, this game is fucking awesome and I can't wait to start New Vegas, finish all THAT DLC, then finally hit up some Skyrim. I'm JUST getting into the RPG scene and I'm wondering why it took so long. Bethesda really nails this stuff out of the park.
