Executing chickens? Grenading buffalos? Someone's been spending too much time with Vinny. Developed a bit of a mean streak.

Black Card (not cart) is an ultra high end credit card with a bunch of perks that the super rich have access to. It just lends more support to the thought that the characters are super bro-ish, douchebag acting trust-fund babies.

Because they are rich and have a good credit card they are 'super bro-ish, douchebag acting trust-fund babies'? I love socially accepted stereotyped hate. It's so magnificently hypocritical. Keep up the good work internet.

Yeah, those poor, poor rich kids. The hardships they must endure daily. How do they do it?

Let me just clarify: The credit card in and of itself, along with what appears to be a lavish lifestyle, does not inherently make them "super bro-ish, douchebag acting trust-fund babies". Their actions do (the way they talk, the clothing they wear, their tribal tattoos, etc...). Also, the fact that they mentioned such things whilst doing such things lends credence to the SB,DA,TFB assumptions.

I don't understand why some people are getting offended at the way the characters are being portrayed by the game designers and then interpreted by the players. They clearly aren't suppose to be the "everyman" character, and may be the most stereotypical "bro" characters that I have seen in a good long time. Can't players dislike the main characters? Why can't Jeff say (in a joking manner), that he feels no empathy for their plight? This seems to be a manufactured debate.

I will try to help out with the explanation. Let's break it down. Starts off with their voices. Broish to start with. They are on an island in what I assume is the South Pacific just to celebrate one of them getting their pilot's license? Doubt its a commercial license. "To my Dad's black card...my black card!!!" Yeah, right there, bragging about money and money that is not theirs. Hell its not even money, its credit! So you see how some would interpret bragging about things you have but obviously have no problem also bragging about how you didn't earn those things would make you a douchebag? And that is all within 10 seconds. Then the rest of the video of them having fun but obviously again, having it be paid by someone else. So they enjoy themselves but get a bigger sense of enjoyment because someone else paid for it? Then you get how they act, screaming "I'm the king of the world!" and that chick flipping of the camera, because its a thing to do? Getting into fights a bars and running away from them. And as someone pointed out below, the developer intended them to be viewed this way, you are not supposed to like them because they are happy and act like jerks about it. I guess Riley did earn a pilot's license, so there is that? But I doubt he paid all the fees and cost of the lessons either.

Fellas. Listen. I'm not saying THESE dudes aren't jerks. RICH WHITE KIDS!!!!!!!!!!! aren't automatically jerks. I find coming to that conclusion simply because they are RICH WHITE KIDS is hypocritical in light of the the week long sexism talk. It's using a stereotype to completely define the character of a person. But, you are all right, THESE people in particular have been designed to look like jerks. But that wasn't really the point I was getting at.

I think you're missing the point.

I said the same thing during the live stream and was immediately flogged by replies of how much people hate the thought of rich white kids. It's a tick in the GB community I haven't figured out yet.

It's a sad fact of life that some, sadly a large minority, people hate on other people that are generally outside of their own exact economic zone.

Kind of the attitude: "Poorer or richer than me, you suck!"

An idiotic consensus since their own situation could change for the better or worse even in the next day and they will end up being what they hated the day before.

@Bombzinski: And Brad, for as long as I can remember, has always been the one most likely to cringe or berate the other guys if someone just offs a bird or a dog on a whim.

"Aw, what did that ____ ever do to you?" isn't exactly catchphrase worthy, but he's almost said it enough times. In fact, I would say his compassion towards virtual animals colored my appreciation for Brad, and helped me get his humor and sensibilities when I first started listening/watching these guys.

That said, I hooted like an idiot right alongside Jeff when he chucked the grenade... And you can't argue it was ineffective!

@fantomspower: I've been having similar issues, and even waiting to let it load doesn't seem to help much. It is intermittent for the most part, but when it's severe it's pretty annoying.

However, I had assumed it was my own router configuration, or problems at my ISP (they had problems last week) because I'm also having issues streaming on Youtube. However, those two websites, and only with video streaming, are the only places I see it.

I didn't like the look of this but actually seeing the gameplay I'm kinda interested. Though for some reason it's been pulled from Steam in the UK, along with AC3. And neither party seems to want to say why :/

I can't believe how good the story and characters are in this. Plus most the islanders sound like Maoris which is pretty cool. But the mo-cap and eye technology really pulls me in, plus that mushroom sequence was pretty great.

I wonder if it would be feasible to have some graphics options for console games. Maybe sacrifice some texture quality and stuff for a smoother framerate. I know I'd like the option, but maybe it's harder than it sounds.

Man maybe it is my video player but while the console version totally looked worse, the framerate didn't look bad at all, maybe not always over 60 but never choppy or laggy or anything like that, just look like a video game.

Anyway this looks like Far Cry 2, minus a few kind of cool gimmicks and added in a lot fun, which Far Cry 2 didn't really have sadly.

BioShock had it, that's about it.

The footage of the "douche bags" in the opening lasts about a minute. From that Jeff gleaned that they're awful people and deserve to die? I don't understand. From that video I deduce that they're young, attractive, and well off financially. What is it that they do that arouses such hatred? Skydive? Jesus, don't tell Jeff I went skydiving last month.

He has played more of the game and seen more of those characters, from what he says they just get fleshed out as even more intensely unlikeable characters.

Not that it's that big of a deal I guess, but does anybody miss when they weren't playing a lot of multiplatform games on PC? I'm getting really tired of hearing 'UGHHHH FRAMERATE.'

It's not that I don't think the point is valid or anything -- the framerate usually is a bit choppy, but I don't know. Maybe I'm just burnt out hearing that phrase after watching the archive of the Wii U launch stream (where the phrase was hella relevant).

Edit: After watching the switch to the PC version, I suppose I understand, but man, I miss when console versions weren't grossly nerfed. C'mon next-gen.

@xxizzypop: I agree. I do not disagree with anything any of the Gbomb crew have to say about PC vs consoles right now. Having said that, a LARGE portion of their audience cant afford buy and keep current a gaming PC - which is why I predominantly play my games on console.

I wish there was some consideration for users like me.

@xxizzypop: Onces you have something really nice its hard to go back. before i went out and bought a new PC i really never noticed frame rate dips (because i was use to them i guess) but now that i have a machine that can run most games at smooth frame rate, yeah i notice when it dips and its a fucking bummer.

Guys were way overreacting to the framerate. It didn't look bad at all.

It seriously is so weird that they are so rah-rah when it comes to PC versions of games, but refuse to play actual PC games.

I dig the minor "cel-shading". I don't know if it's technically CS or not, but there's a definite shadow outlining the character models.

It's interesting that Vaas makes a Forrest Gump reference. Hints are a greater personal history beyond being a simple pirate. I'd like to imagine he was a Ivy League graduate that became bored with his life, went traveling to the islands, discovered the pirates and found his life's true calling.

@banquos_revenge: I would agree with you, I am not opposed to hearing the comparisons. But I think that it's starting to feel a bit like they forget that not every or even the majority of their users play on PC. The constant talk, especially on the most recent bombcast starts to feel like the coverage isn't really for me. Good thing Patrick was there to at least speak for the people who play on consoles.

To be fair, the only air-time GB gave to the PC for a good long time was the tired "PC gaming is dead" rubbish, and now they're all in a position where they can appraise games on a more even and broader footing. The negatives they bring up about console gaming are true - it's getting towards the end of the cycle and a lot of big games don't run so hot - but they're not really excluding console gamers from conversations, because invariably any "big" PC game came out alongside a console version. We're all essentially playing the same games.

reminds me of the old days when folks were complaining about too much 360 talk.

Man Vaas is such a great fucking character. I really hope Ubisoft puts him in one (but only one, don't want to overdo it) other game

The negative aspects of the game interface are because they were thinking about consoles? Nice observation...

@abendlaender: Maybe Vaas DLC? Where you play as him doing a bunch of crazy things on the island or perhaps another island. I'd buy that. ...but then you wouldn't be able to see his facial expressions or hand movements all the time.

This looks fun, but I prefer my open world games to be in the third person view.
