i enjoyed watching the quick look of these guys playing pes 2013 and now fifa 2013 for the wiiu. what annoys me is seeing them blow through the control config and then ask how to pass or shoot the ball.

People really shouldn't be offended by a few throw-away comments... I mean, Jeff's style of humor has always been a little abrasive, even back in the Gamespot days. You can't get upset when you're the butt of the joke.

As an American, I found it humorous because, probably like Jeff, referring to a team as plural sounds so wrong, after having that drilled into you in elementary school.

Because the most Americans that come to this site do not give a fuck about sports. But most Europeans who come to this site are soccer / football fans. Relax they treat every sports game the same. Although I believe if they would try to learn 3 buttons (short pass, long pass, shoot) they would have a much better time with this game than with any other sports game.

The american "football" should be called "Handegg" since they use mainly hands to cuddle an egg-formed-thingy. (Have you seen the nice illustration explaining this?)

Pretty much in agreement with this statement from hussatron. Apart from Ryan's love of golf games, everyone else on the gb crew has played way too many sports games for reviews so no surprise that they would have a dismissive attitude to most of the newer games (since they tend to be 90% the previous game & 10% of changes).

Guessing that the people that come to the giantbomb play/like fifa franchise over madden franchise or are just mental for some reason or another. I'm just glad that after trying to play a full season (nhl hockey game on the ps2) years ago and having that much time eaten up from that, I pretty much got sports based video games out of my system & just enjoy watching a game over trying to play the video game simulation of a game.

They always complain that sports games don't teach them the mechanics and then when the game does, they skip it.

I was playing Fifa 13 on PS2 and went in expecting a pass and a shoot button, but there's so much more going on... So I set it to 2 button mode. Here's my video.

It strikes me as crazy that the ball disappears when it goes out of bounds. They put all this effort into attempting to make the game realistic...and the fucking ball falls through the ground. I just don't understand it. What were they thinking?

Actually English comes from northern Germany and only became known as English as it evolved and became the majority language in England. Almost identically to that process, the language has evolved and the majority speakers now live in the United States. Does it make anyone 100% incorrect? On that note, American English is actually closer to the "English" you're speaking of (classical English), including in accent than the English spoken in the UK. The language, idioms, and accent have changed rapidly over the last two hundred years in Britain, while remaining more constant on the other side of the Atlantic.

I say this as a British-born American who has had a disgusting mixture of both sides for most of his life. I spell colour as such, but also tend to use z instead of s. I'm all fucked up. Let the dudes criticiSe what they want in their dumb-fun quick look.

Ok, so explanation time: That referee guy that appears in the right upper corner from time to time is when it's an advantage it usually happens when someone fouls someone but the game isn't stopped cause the team that was fouled has a good position.

Golden goal rule is the first team to make a goal in overtime wins, this rule isn't used anymore.

As an English guy it's so surreal listening to the commentary on this, There are things that are just culturally expected in the UK that Jeff and Vinny have no clue about, Such a weird video to watch

Surprised people in the comments are getting so bent out of shape about the staff's comments about British English, they were obviously jokes and they only made a few.

As an English “soccerball” fan I was completely enraged by this video, particularly the following parts:

1. The “has – have” and “proper English” issue.

2. The failure to understand the offside rule.

3. “What’s a throughball?”

4. The mocking of football in general.

5. The insistence on doing “full power” shots that fly over the bar, then laughing.

6. The “out of bounds” solution (typing that now makes me angry).

7. Not knowing who any of the players are.

I was so red faced and angry. Then I started to question myself. Why do I need random Americans to like football? Why is it so annoying when they don’t know what a golden goal is?

Then it dawned on me - I am the same as a Justin Bieber fan. I am like a 12 year old girl who feels suicidal over down votes on Youtube videos. I need everyone to like football. I want to protect it. If any of your criticisms are true then somehow it feels like an attack on me.

Also, it made me realise how shit sports games are for the “uninitiated”. Incomprehensible and endless options, terrible controls…

So I want to thank you for this video. It has enabled me to grow as a person.
