Yes! I missed this game growing up (too poor to buy it). But, I remember being hungry for more hispanic/spanish representation in Video Games during my childhood. Time to buy this and fulfill my childhood curiosity!

Played through this over the weekend, and it holds up really well, other than a few of the larger 3d models -- I'm looking at you, Alligator in Year 4!

And it was really nice to play an Adventure game with actual puzzles in it.

The animation when you squash its tail is pretty great though.

I wish they had done more work on the game itself, like some of the weird, overly long animations, stuff like that. But man, the game is still so good.

@constantinel: Yeah, I thought that was the pun as well.

Also welcome back to GBeast!!!

I'm on the final stretch of the game, having never finished it back in 1998, and it's a lot of fun. The imagination and voice acting is really great.

The puzzles can be a little hit or miss. Some of them are a little weird and difficult to figure out. I don't think the ingame characters give you a lot of hints on what they specifically need and you end up doing something or getting an item in weird ways. For instance getting the keys out of the cigarette case or the fake racing stub puzzle. Year 2 overall just had a ton of locations and weird puzzle solutions - it actually forced me to consult a walkthrough because I was really in for the story.

One of my favourite games of all time. I bought every LucasArts adventure game in the 90s and this one blew me away. I ended up buying this on both PS4 and Steam just because and then proceeded to get every achievement/trophy on both. The commentary is really cool stuff for a fan like me who already knows the game inside and out. I was fourteen when the game came out and didn't really have that much trouble with the puzzles, I think people nowadays are just too quick to reach for a walkthrough the moment they get stuck.

Those floats in the parade look REALLY similar to Viva Pinata characters. Are all pinatas colored that way? Or is this just a fun coincidence?

I fell in love for Grim Fandango all over again with this remaster, it truly is a masterpiece.

When the game first came out I had a LOT of trouble with a lot of puzzles. Not so much this time around, but there are a few very weird nonsensical puzzles, like the one you have to freeze the vomit to disarm a bomb.

I've been playing this currently and while the game is still amazing, I'm really disappointed with the remake remaster itself.

Sure it's great to have the characters with better textures and shadows, better controls and dev comments, but that's pretty much it. I didn't want any big fancy visual upgrade, but the backgrounds and videos are still the same from the original game and they look even worse in comparison to the new character textures. Sometimes they put the new faces over the old videos and it looks really odd. And even the new textures itself aren't that amazing, it's like they just traced the lines of the old ones with pen tool, filled the background with one color and it's done, there's no more subtle shades like the originals had.

In the behind the scenes videos, there's a scene where Tim Schafer looks at Manny's office and says something like "they forgot a shadow there, we need to fix that" and they didn't. It looks the same as the original.

I don't know, I'm playing it and enjoying it, but I expected a bit more...

But that would mean they would have had to recreate every single background scene completely from scratch in much higher quality, which would have taken years.

This game is in my top ten of all time. I've been wanting a re-release for years. Playing it again has been incredibly nostalgic and satisfying.

One of the best games of all time. Good god year 2 in Rubacava is fantastic.

I keep a save at the beginning of Rubacava just so I can replay that section any time I want.

Loved this QL, very informative to people who haven't played it and they bee-line it through the puzzles rather than pulling a Brad and run around aimlessly.

A classic indeed ! it's great to finally have this game available at all. Finding an original copy was always the worst and even then, playing it on recent computers meant the game crashed every 10 minutes. So happy this exists :')

One of my favoritue adventure games from that year, Manny, Glottis the whole gang is just so fun, and the dialog is incredible written, and the music oh man the music :)

Still have the box and the original game... looking at it right now :)

I hope that double fine will be fixing the bugs, later in the game there are some sounds missing here and there, which is a shame, people who haven't played it before won't noticed though, but I'm sure they will be fixed soon. The commentary track also has problems here and there, one instance a sound from the game keeps deactivating the commentary track, unless you make sure that person don't make that sound again.

@simkas: I know. But there's some remasters out there where they did everything from scratch (like Duck Tales, but that's an extreme example). If they couldn't remaster everything, they should call it Re-released or something like that because this one is pretty much just like the original game I had back in the day but with some tweaks and extras.

I'll have you know, Vinny, that I was nearly 10 years old when it came out. Thanks.

Never played more than five seconds of the old demo though. I hated the tank controls and couldn't figure out how to play it.

Expectations. People keep calling this a remake when it's not. It's a remaster. They cleaned it up. A remake is a much bigger and different undertaking.
