I think this is a missed opportunity that it's not Vinny and Drew doing a reverse of "Load the Last Save".

I wish they'd do this to Half-Life.

I'm happy that they aren't. It's weird enough that they're doing another refresh of Counter-Strike that isn't really Counter-Strike 2. I'm glad that Valve's priorities generally lie in moving forward with new projects, and not dwelling on the past.

Also, if they went and made some Half-Life Anniversary HD edition or whatever, it would probably piss people off because it would remind them that Half-Life: Episode 3 ceased to exist at some point. If they release ANYTHING related to Half-Life in the next 2 or 3 years, it has to be some miraculously not cancelled Episode 3, or more likely a full blown Half-Life 3.

Valve's priority is making cash-money like anyone else. Luckily they'd rather make good games and make money, rather than shell out the same re-textured product over and over again like Activision & Ubisoft. Unluckily, they don't actually have to make games at all to bring in that cash-money, so they pretty much don't.

Valve takes it to the opposite extreme from Activision. If they don't feel it's breaking some new ground, they don't release it, meaning not much ever gets released when even more of the same would be welcome. Episodic content was the best idea Valve never followed through on.

Anyway, my point is that Half-Life is pretty effing old now, and it's about the only game I'd actually like to play through again in a world flooded with HD re-releases of games that, yeah, I enjoyed, but no, I don't want to play through again. Many of them nowhere near as old as Half-Life.

Just a note, wasn't there a number of "stay in one place and fend off waves of enemies" sequences in the Call of Duty games? The one that immediately comes to mind was in MW1 the "One Shot, One Kill" level in Pripyat.

I actually wish more games used the pull scope up to shoot, but I guess having both styles out there is a good thing.

I kinda want to get an Xbox again. I kind of miss playing Halo campaigns, never was big on the multiplayer, but the campaigns in couch co-op were always fun. Plus a fleshed out fire-fight in Reach would be fun. I liked it in ODST but felt it was a bit lacking in content.

I think the feature where you can switch graphics is awesome. I would love if Valve just beat that Black Mesa Project to the punch and release the first Half Life with the same feature.

Edit: Also, yay for a Drew appearance.

I think the phrase yall are looking for is "before FPS devs infected their players with ADD".

So its not Halo. The Pistol is not the same online multiplayer as it was back in the day via system link or whatever, so as far as i'm concerned, this release is a waste of time.

The faint heartbeat sound is also in the original Halo:CE, but yeah its pretty subtle.

Anyways, that was pretty interesting and cool to watch.

Oh, it's been too long - I would love to see this on the PC. Especially if they left in co-op this time.
