Hooooo boy do I hate how those cinematics look. Static images should not move.
Also, why does this game display an arrow on the ground indicating which direction you are currently moving. Wouldn't you already know that considering you're pushing a direction on the stick?

I know it's a different genre, but this makes me want a new Halo Wars so bad.

Menu music sounds like off brand Agnes Dei.

I think they're being a little too negative. it's not the best top down shooter, but it's pretty decent.

You can activate more skulls if you want more challenge.

Something about the art-style here seems a bit too generic to me. The glow on the menus make it look like some old flash game. Can't expect too much for $6 I suppose.

Why does nearly every GB PC quick look have Vsync off? It makes the game and subsequent video look like ass.

@sledgemeyers: I really think they should add Halo Wars and Reach (with all their DLC) to the Master Chief Collection. At least that would be something. Then you'd really have the full Halo experience there. All units!

This game just looks boring.

Man...

Watching that warthog section was kinda painful. It was just so painfully S-L-O-W. Couple that with the ridiculous feeling repeated "lower the barrier" sequence and all of it just felt like such a slog. I mean couldn't they just run over the dang barriers?

The explosions look straight out of Company of Heroes. Screw Halo Wars, give me a Halo game in the CoH engine... They would just have to do a reskin pretty much, the scale and everything is already spot on!

Much like the first game, this looks tuned towards touch devices. They need to mix up the difficulty for more advanced control schemes like game controllers or kb+m.

Don't get the point of this release. Spartan Assault felt like it was released just so MS could say they had a Halo game out that year. If they're going to continue making these games, they need to let Avalanche Studios make them. Renegade Ops was fucking awesome.

I had a windows Phone for a few weeks. I really liked what they had and Cortana was pretty useful. What made me go back to android was the lack of what they had. For one they really need their own first party navigation app. I was on Verizon and was not going to pay their extortion fee to user the "VZ Navigator"

Also would be nice if this was on Xbox with multiplayer on one screen.

Wasn't the first game this quiet and boring? Like all I hear is sound fx, no music at one point and like 5 slow moving enemies on screen. So lacking of any sort of energy or life.

Chibi Chief is my favorite Tiny Halo character!

This whole game just seems so misguided. Right off the bat they tell you that the story elements don't matter, the combat and movement is lethargic, the free-to-play elements don't do anything for me... nothing about this says MOFUGGIN HALO except the sound effects.

this should've been part of an expanded "halo wars" experience.

even with the possibility of showing some halo lore in the background. I can't see enough gameplay to drive someone from first/third person to topdown.

@jeff I know I have been complaining about V-Sync a lot recently, but this video has confirmed what I suspected:

Since 30 FPS cutscenes are tearing but 60 FPS gameplay is not, someone has changed V-Sync from "Use the 3D application setting" to "Adaptive" on the Global 3D Settings in the NVIDIA Control Panel.

This is an option which should only ever be set on a per-game basis rather than globally, and it is the reason that there's been so much tearing in the PC footage lately.

Man, fuck this game.

The game that @jeff and @drewbert were trying to think of that was made with the Just Cause 2 engine was Renegade Ops. Go play that game instead! It's like A billion times better for a fun dual joystick shooter instead of this junky waste of money.

Once again I'm reminded that Halo Wars could probably be pretty rad on the PC.
