not totally awful for a HP Kinect game. And Vinnie is one of the filthiest men I have ever come across.

due to the sheer amount of points rewarded upon catching the snitch, in many cases he is correct. It's got to be the weakest part of the Harry Potter mythology, IMO.

It would be crazy to collect all Harry Potter games.... but pretty funny.

What was the last Kinect one where it was evident that the developers have spend an incredible amount of time to faithfully recreate Hermoine and then just did half-assed jobs with the rest?

Also, I used to play THIS game all the time with my uncle when I was little. Never did manage to win it and get achievements, but then again, the 360 hadn't been invented yet.

This site really needs a feedback system because of comments like this. Great work!

I dunno man...there were a lot of games in the books and they often had to hold off on grabbing the Snitch because they'd lose by grabbing it. It gives 150 points I believe, and it ends the game. Each score in a hoop is 10 points, so if you're more than 15 scores ahead the Snitch won't make the other team win. I dunno I think it's fine as far as sports go. All sports are pretty dumb when broken down to their base elements.

@MormonWarrior: My point was more that regardless of the rules, if its a game involving punching dudes, shooting hoops, and flying on broomsticks, it doesn't need sensible rules to make it kind of amazing.

I don't think the developers could have picked voice actors that sound less like their actual movie counterparts.

The seeker has too much power for an individual player that doesn't even interact with the rest of the team in a significant way. It's as if there were a basketball game and a tennis match proceeding on two courts right next to each other, and the winner of the tennis match gave 50 points to their team despite never having to play basketball. The only way a team could lose the basketball game and win the tennis match is if they were already getting massively blown out.

Thank the gods! There need to be more Harry Potter games for the Giantbomb crew to cover - screw the series ending! NOTHING STOPS THE HARRY POTTER QUICK LOOKS!!!

EDIT: Y'know, watching that first level/scene, where they were trying out wands... it really makes me wonder why no one has just made a fucking adventure game with Kinect yet. Go screen by screen, or room by room, and just mess with objects, have an inventory, and interact with characters. It's pretty obvious what the Kinect is good at by now - interacting with objects, playing around with crap like that. Literally anything but twitch action. Yet 99% of Kinect games are minigame collections. Fuck you, western developers making Kinect games. And fuck you Microsoft - this is YOUR hardware. You should've acquired and produced some quality games for it by now, idiots.

EDIT: Oh man, the "Road Rash" take on Quidditch actually looks super, super awesome. Props to EA for letting you, as Harry Potter, punch other wizards stupid enough to pull up next to you!

@vinsanityv22: I agree about the adventure games on Kinect. A point-and-click adventure is the one thing Kinect could excel at. IF they could figure out a good UI. None of this "move hand to position and hover-over" nonsense to pick up items. Can i get it to recognize me doing a point motion towards the TV? or even sticking out my index and tapping like touchscreen phone. I'm not trying to Walk The Dinosaur

I really don't get why they haven't figured this out and made Scooby Doo ones like they had on SNES/Genesis. They would hopefully figure out it worked and fine tune it after making a kiddie game. Any slow-user-input-requiring game that was highly animated would be a good start, not cel shaded or FMV/motion cap, but more hand drawn-ish like an XBLA game but better. And of course a good story for a mature title. There are quality developers still making adventure games damnit lets go Double Fine and all the German developer dudes. Callabo!

EDIT: now that I finished watching that music video, I'm convinced that Kinect was invented in 1987, because the people in that video are so obviously playing one. there's even an on screen subtitles sing-a-long, fuck

When Ryan was hitting the flying keys and the hair of the broom with the shaft was visible and Vinny was saying it was 1970s Harry was hilarious. Oh phallic jokes.

I was going to correct Ryan on how the snitch is scored in Quidditch, but then I realized that would be letting the game win.

Technically, there are those players (Beaters? Bludgers?) that exist solely to smack around balls that can hit other players. So in theory, the one way Seekers interact with the rest of the game is the Beaters could purposely headhunt the Seeker all game and basically beat the shit out of him with those heavy balls.
