This game is really awesome =D Been playing it since Day 1 of the beta, and it's really addictive. I think this could be really big for Blizzard

I'm just wondering whether this game will have the staying power of a Magic: The Gathering or if it will just be addictive for a couple of weeks and then everyone will move on. I'm really interested in playing this though.

Scared to watch this. I don't think my hearth can manage getting in on CCG's now when I finally caught the Dota-bug.

Call me boring, but I really like the more traditional look and presentation of SolForge more, as well as its card art. However, Hearthstone seems much more engaging as a game.

Watching him retire his Arena deck after one win was difficult to watch. I know it was for the sake of the QuickLook, but geez.

I got Magic The Gathering 2013 last year for iPad and ended up really liking it. Never played a card game before. This seems super cool. I'll definitely get it when it comes out.

Wow, Brad knows a lot of the Warcraft lore. I played a ton of WoW up to the end of Cataclysm and I don't think I know who most of those Heroes are by memory.

I am super excited to play this! I am however not like one of these super-intense fucks that hounds twitter or peoples streams for keys. I'll wait until it goes open beta, or just releases outright.

I think it's sort of a necessary evil. A card game on its own may note appeal to as many people as the extremely well produced and visually engaging one would. So long as there is a solid card came at the base of it, I think the presentation only works in its favour

Think I would rather just play Magic the Gathering or Scrolls if I had to choose. Strange how long Magic Online have been around but somehow Wizards couldn't manage to create one for IOS.

Now obviously that ship have sailed.

Yep, that certainly was slightly distressing. Rorie seemed like he hadn't figured out what Arena mode is at all yet. Based on TotalBiscuit's videos I gathered that you pay 2$ for a chance at it. You draft a deck from random cards you're only allowed to use for this one Arena run. You play opponents until you lose three games (or reach a number of max wins). You get rewards based on how much you won.

Maybe he played a tutorial freebie run though since he didn't seem to remember having drafted that deck. That or press accounts get freebies, who knows. The game looks really interesting, nice mana system, good concept with the permanent hero abilities and glorious presentation. The card design and visual style is even quite a bit less shit than the post-Warcraft 2 cartoon style (to my eyes).

One quick note concerning Brad's "pay to win" question. Every CCG that has rarer, superior cards you get from payed booster packs is pay to win, I think. Though maybe the matchmaking can mitigate some of that. I'm also glad to see you can save up for specific single cards in Hearthstone though. That's almost always the better way to get good CCG decks. Buying boosters for anything other than getting that first taste and a starting card pool or drafting usually ends up being a sucker's move.

The mechanics are so simple for a card game that it borders on facebook level of depth. Nice production quality though. Got me interested in CCGs again.

I wasn't really paying much attention to this until I watched Kripp play this on his stream earlier today.

This looks so good. Free-To-Play seems like the right fit, too. I'm not big into TGC stuff either, but all of this just looks delicious from a long-time (and ex-)WoW player's perspective.

@vessel28: You don't really have to spend much. I threw $10 into buying some boosters, but if you're good at arena you can use your arena winnings to keep playing arena and winning packs.

They actually went out of their way to not make it that. You can craft any card in the game and the only thing you can really buy with real money is extra packs. I can't wait to play a pay-2-play pc tgc that actually has production values and strategy cough *solforge* cough.

They've all been in World of Warcraft in some form. Rexxar in particular used to wander around Desolace and was part of the Horde's quest line to get the key to Onyxia's lair. As of Burning Crusade he's in Blade's Edge Mountains in Outland.

Ok, so its not just me ... Solforge is really dependent on pure luck, right? Whoever puts the biggest cards in his/her deck wins? ... Or am I crazy?

Not at all. It's definitely simpler than MtG in terms of complexity of cards but there is still a lot of decision making and room for good and bad plays. The ability to attack minions directly and do attacks and play spells in any order you like it adds a lot.
