Quick Look: Mars: War Logs

Looks like a cross between The Witcher 2 and The Chronicles of Riddick. (that game had a lot of screwed up dialog and weird voice acting too) I'll definately check this out at some point.

Wait, so some spiders made a Western RPG Red Faction prison game with hilariously bad voice acting and dogs with shrimp heads? That's actually pretty cool.

Well this looks quite interesting.

yeah the direction, animation and dialogue all seems really japanese, and then the game seems bad

I'm about 3 hours in, it's a game thats decent that has a bit rough edges. I when into detial on literally the only forum thread about this game but whatever trevah.

Also, the next 'hub' is a pretty cool slummy city underneath a wreck, giving some cool cyberpunk on mars vibes. It's as far as I got. There's some interesting twists, and more bad voice acting but I should really get finishing that game.

This reminds me a hell of a lot of Jade Empire for some reason. Now I want to play Jade Empire. Hilarious QL, though.

The introduction of War Logs is a brilliant masterpiece. I will fight anyone who says differently.

Unfortunately it's also the high point of the writing and direction of the game. Or well, there is that one thing...and I haven't finished the game yet.

The game overall is...ok, manages to be enjoyable despite everything. It's fumbling all over the place, but you want to like it, you know.

This seems very much like the mid-tier game that we've been lamenting the loss of on consoles. More than adequate for 20 bucks.

The cursing in this game is sooooo odd.

As it turns out, Mars is full of garbage people with insufferable accents.

This game looks kind of alright for 20 bucks. The voice acting is the perfect kind of terrible.

For the price it doesn't seem too bad but I'm a sucker for RPG's.

Not a fan of all the revisionist history going on about The Witcher in attempts to let this game slide. Calling this a B-tier Witcher means it's a "C" game, damn it! AKA not very good.

The Witcher was a scrappy little game with a lot of potential (which MWL has little of) at launch. It just happened to be supported damn well, and CD Projekt Red didn't move on to The Witcher 2 until the original had been iterated on multiple times with heaps of new content and mechanical fixes.

If Spider does the same, then I can see the praise being justified.

@memphisslim:You've got a good point. The Witcher was just lacking before it's Enhanced Edition, but with the potential it had it was able to become great when polished, even if still slightly flawed in some respects.
I do not think this game could reach nearly the same heights, with any amount of polish.

Shades of Butcher Bay all over this, only done poorly.

I'd renew my subscription immediately if they did an ER of this with Jeff riffing on the horrible accents/voice acting the whole way through.

You duders asking for an ER of this are going to have to wait. These guys aren't random Youtube nobodys. Doing a recorded full play through of a new game is kind of a No-No as it would be seen as a reason for other people to not play a game. Wether or not this game deserves that respect is not the question, but if the GB crew were to do a full play through of a new game other company's could become iffy over sharing anything with them in the future.

For a PC game the textures look pretty bad.

I sucked major ass at the combat. That being said I did enjoy what I played of the game, got to the second area after the POW camp.

I felt like the game stepped out of time or something, like it was meant for the original Xbox.

It seems like the devs made a poor decision going for quantity over quality. Too ambitious.

yeah I'm going to play this. It's on mars and the gameplay looks alright. Man I'm just hard up for a sci-fi RPG I guess. Here's to hoping Cyberpunk is good and that we keep getting some B-grade stuff until then.

This reminds me of Knights of the old republic if that had terrible acting and a terribly written story line.

I'm kind of digging how bad this game looks.
