I can't believe Jeff hated the first Metal Gear Solid. That just seems...insane to me. That game was just so fucking good.

I don't mean to come off as someone who dislikes Jeff. Quite the contrary, actually. Guy's a fun dude to watch and listen to.
But at a certain point, I start to wonder why he sits in on Quick Looks. He tends to focus far more on the negative aspects of things and far less on positive stuff.

@brad You can actually see patches easier using the Night Vision goggles..cause you know, they make important/usable stuff glow yellow. To change to different outfit, you move left or right on the mission, where up and down scrolls missions.

The entire last hour of this was crazy unpleasant to watch. Jeff clearly hates it and is trying to wrap it up when there's another 45 minutes in the video, Brad is trying to rush it and playing worse and they just snipe at each other more and more.

Metal Gear's storyline has been irredeemable, pretentious, convoluted bullshit for years. And I say that as a fan of X-men comics.

Jeff was being a little abrasive, almost like he himself has become the manifestation of his own beard, just like Ocelot became a manifestation of Liquid after grafting Liquid's dead arm onto his body. It's all connected.

I love how Brad always just want to show this one thing that he thinks is close but actually is very far away, which makes his quick looks go on and on and on. ^^

I wasn't super impressed by Ground Zeroes, but it definitely made me want to play MGS4 again. The only game in the series I beat once.

The fanservice for the PS4 mission is damn good and i didn't play that much either. Surprised that there is even a logo for the ios game. Still sucks that there is no cardboard box.

That burn on Revengeance was kind of funny and it's interesting to see an author have such a direct voice in his art, but yo, Revengeance is way more fun than any other Metal Gear game, so all the same, it was completely undeserved.

Especially when you consider why Platinum ended up working on Revengeance in the first place.

Putting 4 and 2 above 1 is heresy.

Hearing Jeff and Vinny talk about how MGS 4 and 2 are good and 3 is bad is mind blowing. It's like the Metal Gear Solid games for people who hate Metal Gear Solid.

I really don't know why Jeff sat in on this. He doesn't like the series post the NES Metal Gear. It sucks listening to him complain through this video about a series that I enjoy and is the reason I'm even watching this video. Just sucks any joy right out of it.

I'm a fan of an admittedly imperfect MGS series and I like Jeff, but the negativity was a bummer.

I like his viewpoint on most stuff; probably because it tends to align with mine more often than not, but also because he's smart and experienced as fuck when it comes to this stuff. He backs up his opinions. They're never irrational. I might disagree from time to time, or just not be bothered by something he hates, but I always know where he's coming from. He's a critical guy, but the fact that he tends to skew negative more and more over the last several years says more about the state of the games industry to me than about Jeff himself.

On the flip side, that's why, after reading Jeff's review of inFAMOUS, then hearing @brad talk about it on the podcast, I totally wish Brad had reviewed it. It was cool that Jeff offered a new perspective on the series, but as someone who platinumed both previous games and the DLC, I want Brad's opinion on the series because he calls it out for its total stagnation like only someone with that experience can. I like the game a lot, but only because its core is inFAMOUS, not because it brings anything new to the table. In fact, it's an extremely boring game in a lot of ways for a diehard fan like myself, and most of the ways it differs from past games is for the worse. Jeff does not offer that perspective. Brad does. Experience matters.

(Also, Jeff clearly gets just as frustrated watching Brad play games as we do, and that's always entertaining to listen to. Voice of the people.)

@sixpin: Jeff really liked MGS4, though.

They try to go into Gray Fox's backstory in Portable Ops. They would've been better off had they not. All the stuff you guys have been incorrectly attributing to the wrong games, and the complete oversight of some major events (Big Boss talking to Solid Snake at the end of MGS4) has been pretty frustrating. But this kind of stuff just makes me a nerd I guess.

I take it none of the duders have played Metal Gear: Portable Ops? I've never seen any of them reference it and they do go someway to tell Grey Fox's back story.

I've said it before and I'll say it again, Brad is the worst person I've ever seen play video games.

Jeff can be amusing, even when he is being it would seem, a bit cranky. It's hardly ever mean, and almost never w/out base, though I think it's well known the personalities. I will never see these 2 missions, so I enjoyed it.

I do not understand Kojima's 'burn' on Revengeance though. Now there is true cranky for you. In fact that simply struck me as off.

3>2>1 for me. Never played 4 since I've never owned a PS3. I just need one more price cut to justify a purchase for just two games (MGS4 & Demon's Souls - and don't turn that comment into a console war discussion, I know there are plenty of other good reasons to own a PS3...just for me personally those were the only two exclusive must play titles).

Yeah, I liked the story in MGS1, but after that it got too ridiculous for me.

The funny part is how Brad can never just own up to it and have a laugh - he always tries to insist that it's a Herculean feat to hold a half-intelligent conversation and play a game well at the same time. Except his co-workers do it regularly. And every time Brad talks during a QL, it's always at a menu, or he's running aimlessly in circles, and not focusing anyway.

Brad seemed surprisingly irritated ages ago, when someone compiled a list of times until Brad's first death in every one of his QL's.

Even funnier, is that I'm sure Brad is actually quite good at video games. It takes skill to become talented at games like StarCraft, DOTA, and fighting games - and Brad is pretty good at all three. Yet every time he clips on a microphone, his brain turns to mush.
