Uh oh. I "wasted" a lot of hours playing Peggle on my phone awhile back. Now am I going to do the same on my Xbox? I hope so. But oh man, that off-set "board" of Peggle 2 annoys me.

I love me some Peggle.

This is gonna be the greatest game of all time. NO HYPERBOLE NEEDED FOOLS.

I don't mean this to be snarky or anything, I'm just legitimately curious - are people being serious when they're expressing excitement about this? I played a bit of it on the 360, and I definitely don't get it.

I love Peggle. It pains me that this isn't on 360 too.

Never really got the appeal of Peggle, felt too automated, just shoot and watch it go.

It seems I have never played Peggle, because Android & PC.

@noizy: Peggle started on PC. It's where I first played it. Then it went everywhere.

I was totally on board with this game until I got to the 5th master whose special ability is annoying.

As someone whos never played Peggle this looks really boring. Like Pachinko but I'm not betting my foot to a Chinese drug lord.

Ya know....this is the first game that makes me jealous of the X-helena BONEham carter. Dead Rising looked okay, but Peggle looks schweeeet.

PS- That last level totally looks like boobs.....i think there were even lungs artistically rendered behind the pegglies, making it definitely the chesticle region.

OH GOD PC VERSION PLOX.

Seems a bit barebones compared to Peggle 1 and Nights, but it's still Peggle, and that's all I wanted.

Also, I'm with Jeff: Ode to Joy and that Starz ad (which seems to be missing from Youtube, dammit) are forever linked in my mind.

Yeah, I got a free copy of Peggle Extreme with Orange Box many years ago. It was a fun diversion for half an hour or so, but that's about all I felt I needed of it. I never felt the need to upgrade even to Peggle Deluxe.

But are there any games that are not better played without pants?

I have a dumb Peggle story: Back when Rock Band was thing my friends and I were getting together fairly regularly to play it. One Rock Band night as we were winding down, I had gotten fairly drunk while my friends were not drinking at all. I needed to hang out and sober up before going home and my friends being decent decided to hang out with me for a bit. We loaded up Peggle, the idea being that we'd play until we failed to clear a level. The guy who was hosting and owned the XBox took Peggle relatively seriously and decided he would go last out of politeness. Prior to this night, I had played maybe 2 levels of the PC demo. Anyway my turn came up after the other two friends failed out pretty quickly.

It was at that time that became possessed by the spirit of Peggle incarnate. I fully cleared level after level, hit the free bucket a ridiculous number of times, I finished a level with 11 balls remaining. Even when things looked dire and I had 5 orange pegs and 1 ball left, I'd miraculously hit all 5 pegs in one shot. I crushed the high score of the friend who owned it on nearly every level. My friends could only sit there in awe at the near transcendent event that was occurring before them. This went on for over an hour until the influence of my encroaching sobriety and guilt that I was the only one playing anything cause me to quit to the menu while still in the thick of what would be the greatest Peggle run of my life. My friends were dumbstruck, though glad to be free of the blinding aura of the one true Peggleness that had inhabited me.

Afterwards there were several attempts to duplicate this event that did not bear fruit. Regardless of my level of intoxication, I could only muster passable Peggle play. Still , even today, the friend who owned it is still incredulous about what occurred, and that he could never beat my scores.

Of course it's more Peggle. Why fuck up what was already perfect?

The best thing about the first Peggle was the replays. Watching how people got crazy scores was kind of awesome.

That's about it, though. I'm not big on Peggle. It's a shame that replays are gimped on this one.

I'll assume that Vinny's original review is still valid.

Jeff's everlasting e-sports joke is fun and all, but I can totally see a crowd of 100,000 yelling at the top of their lungs as a bunch of idiot savants clear the board with two balls. I'd watch a stream of that. PopCap should totally get into the e-sports scene.

Nothing makes me feel like one of those lab chimps that are forced to play simple games to get a slice of banana more than playing Peggle. However, in my case, replace the banana with a few more minutes without having to deal with the real world.

My guess is most people feel a mix of serious and ironic excitement for PopCap games. It's not gonna be on anyone's GOTY lists, but it'll probably get more play than the games that do.
