This game is a total 3/5, but it's a pretty cool/interesting 3/5.

Remember... The game allows you to change the spoken language, but the subtitles remain in English. I've been playing the game with French voice acting and English subtitles, makes for a cool effect given the Neo-Parisian setting.

This looks like a game that wants to blend quick combo fighting with animation priority... but they should probably just have let you cancel moves into dodges and counters.

Edit: The aesthetic and memory stuff seem fantastic. I think I could put up with clunky combat and animations, but not for $50. Hopefully this'll be on the cheap during the Steam Summer sale.

I don't think the voice acting is that bad. it's not great, but I was expecting it to be as bad as the new Deus Ex based on the description, and it's definitely not that

I remember that guy! Highlight of the whole thing. 2012's show was nothing compared to him and I'm afraid this year's won't live up to it either.

I want to encourage female protagonists but Capcom dropped the ball. She looks like such a 90's douche bag with her hair that even if the story was amazing I'm not sure I could take it seriously. Not a fan of the enemy design either.

It's funny that all the reviews mention how painfully obvious the game is about where you need to go at all times yet Jeff wasn't always all that sure - I don't mean it as a slight towards Jeff but rather that the arrows aren't as big a deal as a lot of people made them out to be.

As someone wrote on the boards, I am getting a strong Enslaved: Odyssey to the West vibe from this. Cool setting with nice visuals, wrapped up in mediocre combat. I'll definitely get it - FULL PRICE - cause I'm not a thief like you used game pirates..

Don't be silly, language options are only important when it's a Russian game. Metro is really immersive, no other game has done what they did.

This is one of those games I will definitely pick up once it's on sale purely because I really like the atmosphere and style of the game.

That ping machine almost has to be a Monty Python reference.

Year of the Shimmy

Has anyone noticed that some of the graffiti around the world may give nods towards gaming web sites? I've found an "e" that looks a lot like the Escapist logo but different color. Also lots of IGM logos that may be a nod towards IGN. I'd be curious to know if anyone else has spotted more? Or maybe I'm just crazy.

Also, there's a severe lack of straps on her clothes.

So much filler! The climbing around is utterly devoid of drama.

Oh man... 10 minutes in and I'm sold. I'll happily put up with some shitty combat to explore that world.

Would've liked to see a bit more of this, but that was already interesting enough. Certainly something worth considering for a lower price.

The combat feels a little off compared to stuff like batman, but I'm liking it so far, you just can't mash and you have to commit to your actions, which means actively thinking about when you're gonna attack (not trying to bash Jeff). I understand why people don't like animation priority like that though. It actually reminds me a ton of Enslaved. I can definitely see it getting repetitive though, like they said so far the combos and timing isn't different enough to matter that much. I'll probably just have my damage combo and my health restoring combo, I hope there's more to it than that though.

Also I really like the music. I can't put my finger on it but it reminds me of something, maybe Ghost in the Shell (one of those combat songs anyways)?

The memory remixing stuff looks fucking awesome, the combat does seem pretty mediocre though... The combo lab looks like it could be fun to mess around with.

I'll probably pick it up after a price drop.

So they thought incredibly nitpicky animation priority dodging/combos would work with enemies that hit and move very fast and do a tonne of damage and clump up. Meaning the only way to survive is to constantly be dodging which kills the satisfaction of the combat and drastically limits your attack move set. Why is it so hard for other companies to emulate batmans combat. =(

It's precisely this. It's Batman's combat, only you don't have immediate means of crowd control and dodging fucks up your combo.

It's a real shame, because the game has an absolutely stunning visual design.

Cool thing: I don't know how much the memory remixes vary, and I'm assuming you're always trying for the one defined outcome (a shame), but at the very least when I did that remix I didn't move the table and Dr Quaid fell over it when shoved by David, whereas he moved it aside to get to his patient after Jeff moved it in this Quick Look. Seems like a concept that has a lot of potential.

I kept thinking it was saying "TOTAL PIMP!" when you were beatin dudes up, it was actually fairly distracting...

Is it weird that this reminds me very much of Beyond Good and Evil?

This game seems like evidence for the case against games trying to be a little bit of everything. Remember Me probably could have been a good adventure game if they focused more on traveling and the memory remix and eliminated the need for so much combat. I could go for a game that is like Ghost Trick but has more of an adventure aspect to it (which is perhaps what Beyond: Two Souls is trying to be).

@humanity: I haven't played any of the Metro games, but I've really been enjoying playing this in French w/ English subs. In some spots the game has a very bright environment which can make the small subtitles difficult to read, but the game has such a strong visual style that I feel like I'm still getting the story.

I can put up with mediocre combat as long as the story in interesting and the environment is immersive. I may pick this up as long as combat isn't the focus of the game, and really it seems like filler.

I really really like how this game looks, only have the money for one game rn and I think that gonna be the Last Of Us but as soon as i can I'm gonna pick this up

The game's combat looks ruff. I was really hoping this would be better. There seems to be a certain charm to it, regardless of a few problems. I'll still Gamefly it.

By the way, Glad to see another female character with a skin tight sexualized outfit. I say that sarcastically as well as sincerely. Not really trying to start that particular discussion here though.

Edit: After having played 2/3rds of the game and seeing the character's outfit after the intro, she's really not that sexualized at all. I unfairly judged the game based off the first 15 minutes.

to be fair, the combat in the witcher 2 is medicore at best as well...but i still play the hell out of it
