Quick Look: Resident Evil 4

My main memory from this was just how damn long the game is. Felt very generous.

Plus, I guess, I was going very slowly because I'm a pussy.

A GameCube disc holds 1.5 GB, if anybody hasn't covered it yet.

I never really liked this game or any resident evil game ever.

Isn't this the PC version?

Played the Wii version a few years back and couldn't really get into it.

Hah. Funny how the modded PC version looks better than this graphics wise. Even the HUD and Xbox buttons look sharper + you could configure all the buttons like any other proper game.

Way to rip off Deus Ex:HR's inventory system! ;P

Brad, why are you shooting them in the chest? You know why they take so many bullets to die? Because you keep shooting them in the chest.

As much as this brought back memories of RE4 - like shooting down the lid to the well before shooting down the pearl so that it doesn't get dirty and is therefore worth a lot more money, and the hanging jewels in the cemetery area, and shooting the water at the lake getting you killed instantly by the fish... I still can't justify paying 20$ for this right now. That's really pretty pricey for a game that old that is also so readily available.

Awwww Braaaad... how could you miss that Ada Wong cutscene? When you go back through the door when the big dude grabs you?

Not knowing the yellow herb increases max health, not knowing the rifle would have fit in that case without combining those herbs pointlessly

I loved this game so much on my GameCube. I played it so much during my sophomore year of college.

This is a poorly upscaled port of the PS2 version, avoid at all costs. The Wii version is the definitive version

Goddamn, I wasn't planning on buying this game for like the 5th time but hearing that music again and seeing this gem in action in HD, I can't help myself.

yea, ryan cut it out or something. Brad was in mid sentence talking about how it was too big to be an XBLA game and then theres a really jarring cut to Ryan asking about Renegade Ops. Maybe something happened to the audio of that part of the bombcast?

The PS2 version never showed Leon's RPD costume in cut scenes.

So many great memories of playing this game. I'm going to have to pick this up.

I got super crazy with all the inventory management too, and I fucking loved it so much. I put in all this crazy math in deciding what I should purposely sell for profit. I've been like this with all RE's, though RE4's brilliant inventory made me manage like a mad man.

I'm always bringing up how much I love inventory management whenever close to any RE talk strikes up. Believe you me, we crazy fuckers may be a minority, but we're one that will never be shut down!

This quicklook made me insanely happy. I did the exact same thing when I first came across the merchant, yesterday, lol.

I actually kind of like the inventory nonsense. :P I was kind of hoping Resident Evil 5 would have used a combination of the two inventory systems. Example being you can have the four directional pad buttons mapped to items, but then also pause and go into your main inventory. I know for Resident Evil 5 they may have been going for a more fast paced game but I miss being able to pause and use health or move stuff around.

Leon's gonna need a bigger boat.

I need someone to play this game with, because I can't do it alone. If there was any game I'd do a "let's play" or endurance run with, it would be this.

Then I just need to decide if I want to brave the crummy Wii controls or the crummy Gamecube controls. No, I'm not buying the game a third time in HD. But maybe in *3D* !!!!! On the 3DS !!!!

22 minutes in and Brad is aiming for the enemies' chest whenever he has the pistol equipped and then commenting on how precious ammo is and how many shots it takes to down an enemy.

Ahhh... the horribly wrong accents on the Spanish, the ridiculous made-up words and the ludicrous characterization. The press certainly had a field day with this one here in Spain when it came out.

Oh, and for my money, the Wii version is still the best. For starters, it approximates aiming with a different hand than you move, and despite the lack of HD it looks pretty much better than this, what with the SD textures on it.

You wanna know what's fucked up? I bought 1600 ms points in order to get this game...

The movement begins ... and this is not just about RE! It affects many games and genres! Huge props to the new Deus Ex for keeping the Tetris inventory. "Booo" to Diablo 3 for stripping it out!

Nothing wrong with that, although if you're in the US it's easy to get some free MS Points just by using Bing Rewards for a couple of minutes every day. I don't think there are any Games on Demand titles that sell for less than 1600 MS Points/US $19.99, so RE 4 HD was never going to sell for less than that since it's way too big to fit on XBLA.

I don´t know the same can be said about any other game setting in a real country (Venezuela in Mercenaries 2 is noting like that game portrays ... yet) it´s just a location not a representation of that country society so don´t take too serious and I don´t know about you but I´ve said Detras de ti imbecil so many times I can barely remember.

I loved using the knife in this game.

Was kind of worried about this being an hour long but Vinny really helped keep it going. RE 4 is one of my favorite games of all time. Definitely will be picking this up next week when I get paid. Wish there was more achievements but this game is worth playing whether the achievements are good or not.

My PS2 game is still kicking, no need for this. Grab a RGB Scart cable or Component cable and it looks very good, specially if one has a PS3 with BC (I don't sadly).
