Quick Look: Super Mario 3D Land

I can't wait to play this when the game is bundled with the dual-slidepad 3DS Lite about 12-18 months from now.

this game doesn't look like a console seller

If I'm not excited to buy this mario game what does that say about the 3DS.

This looks super short, the quick look seems to cover about an 8th of the game. Still going to get it though

Man, I wonder what Nintendo's sales are going to look like this holiday season. I'm guessing they have all their top talent working on the next Wii and they've sort of written off the 3DS at this point.

I gotta admit, I haven't paid attention to Mario in almost ten years and this looks pretty awesome.

While my 3DS lacking in games, I think I'm going to wait a little to get this, since Zelda comes out in a week. Great timing there Nintendo.

hurry up nintendo and release your "lite" "i" or "XL" version so i can buy a 3DS.

I refuse to spend $200 on the current one when i know there is a better one coming in the next year.

Patrick, fighting a castle? That's just.....something that has all ready happened in a Mario game.

Wow, this one me over immediately. I like the more methodical Mario games, so I'm in.

Looks alright, but I think I'm gonna wait until they change up the hardware on the 3DS- I REALLY don't want to buy that stupid 2nd stick addon, but I also REALLY want to play Resident Evil- just build in the 2nd stick already.

Great Quick Look guys. I love me some Mario games it's basically the only reason I still have my Wii. I really want to give this game a try but don't know if I'm willing to buy a 3DS just for one game.

Games saves after completing a level so it's automatically better than New Super Mario Bros.

I'm not really impressed how this game translates the 2D stages into rather poor 3D levels. But hey, it's Mario so people will say it's the best thing ever...

It looks okay, bit underwhelmed though.

A fun surprise in the quicklook was that, in the world of Mario, time is now money, instead of just useless score.

Looks cool, but as I'll say with every handheld game.

Sure would be way better on a console.

I have plenty of handheld games that would be worse on a console, like Tactics Ogre.

This looks really cool, will definitely get it when I eventually get a 3DS.

Also, I feel Jeff and Patrick missed a perfect opportunity for more 'In Time' jokes.

At the end of a level, the amount of time you have left is converted to coins which helps you gain more lives

I'm going to say it, this looks like the worst Mario game since Sunshine! Tanooki suit Mario with no statue or real way to run and fly?!? To quote an internet meme "It's a FAKE!", and don't get me wrong, I'm the worlds biggest Mario fan, grew up with him played and beat every game and I'm 30 years old. This looks unfinished at best!

A bit? I was massively underwhelmed by this. This is what gets me about Nintendo. They put all this effort into new novel hardware, but what do they do for software? Nostalgia mining. There isn't an idea here that is isn't original, save perhaps for gimping the camera for the sake of the 3D gimmick every once in a while. Nintendo drives me nuts this way.

What is the point of the Tanooki suit if it doesn't transform into a statue? Isn't it just a normal leaf/tail then?

The commenters seem to have an awful lot of trouble grasping that it's just the Raccoon Suit with a new look. I hope they didn't get that confusion from Jeff and Patrick, how hard can a visual makeover be to understand, even if it does make it look like a different old item?

So, now there are two games I want to play on 3DS. This and Zelda! Still some way to go thou before I considere buying one ^^

Considering the fact taht the platformer has all but died as a mainstream genre, I imagine the game would flop hard without the Mario skin. Say what you will about Call of Duty, but at least FPSes without that name on the box can still succeed. If it's not Mario or Sonic, the platformer is dead in the mainstream.

Anybody else got a five star profile or am I the only one? In super Mario 3d land. Have any of you people played the secret level in Super Mario 3d land it isn't fake, it's real.

This is probably the third time I've watched this, each time watching it before I think I'm about to buy it. This time I'm actually getting it as a free download from the promotion Nintendo is running. I ordered a blue XL and Luigi's Mansion. I'm just waiting for it all to arrive in the mail now.
