Quick Look: Test Drive Unlimited 2

This is really amazing guys.  I want to personally thank Vinny, Alex and Brad for doing superb work here.

 Best QL of 2011 so far without a doubt!
 
Oh, and I wouldn't mind Alex in an Endurance Run at all.  Just sayin'. 

Because driving games indeed.

If Vinny weren't here in this quick look, I'd have skipped it. Alex is unbearable to listen to.

I mean, we share a name, he can't be all that bad.... And his "I LOVEE YOUUUU" at the end made me laugh out loud more than any other part.

Put this on the Endurance Run list of candidates.

This rivals the DCUO QL on the hilarity scale.

I understand why nobody likes Alex but I will not explain it to you. You either get it or you don't.

I don't get the Alex hatred, I think he's awesome. All the GB team have unique personalities that seem to complement one another. For the longest time I couldn't stand Brad, he's real dry and not at all funny, but his straightlaced nature blends well with others, particularly Vinny since he's nearly the exact opposite. Also Alex is basically a straightup twin of a friend of mine from high school, right down to the hair style and tattoo placement. It's uncanny.
 
More on topic, this game is actually somewhat enjoyable. The part where you drive cars can be a bit ghetto at times, but there's still something about the whole package that keeps me returning. The campy, almost Deadly Premonition-esque awfulness infused into the cutscenes and other parts of the game are also a motivating factor for me to keep pushing on.

That last 5 minutes was worth the first 45.

I wish Alex would stop showing up. Has the most obnoxious voice and personality. The primary reason though is because he has that contentless website, you know, Screened? Yeah, nothing on it. He should really work on his own website.

When this game is $1 on steam I'll buy it

I never knew everyone in Ibiza spoke with an American accent.

Everytime I watch Top Gear episodes where they travel around a country, I get a strong urge to purchase this game ASAP.

i've come to the point where i can no longer watch Brad play any type of game, its to frustrating, how can u suck at so many game types? Yet the games he is good at he spoils the quick look by "orb collecting" or spending to much time in in-game stores. c'mon!

This quicklook is great. Its weird because TDU is kinda like a pure driving game and not really "racing". Like its the most realistic driving game in that I could believe I was driving around the city and the handling usually feels pretty good. 
 
P.s don't go full acceleration from a stopped position on a wet track...

Well............. I thought I wanted to buy and play this game up until I watched the entirerty of this Quick Look. This is another example of how well the Quick Look videos work, yes, this does a really good job of displaying just how retarded this game is.

I really like the first game and while it looks pretty goofy in this vid, I'll give the sequel a test drive ;) as well.

Counter-steer, Brad, Counter-steer!

when this popped up on steam earlier I was going to buy it but I'm GLAD I watched this QL first, no way in hell would I even enjoy this crap.

This is like Gran Turismo meets fashion week.

Apparently the game can be populated by a mixture of AI and real players to challenge.  So I kinda feel Vinny was right with his initial suspicions of "Toxic Drift" being AI.

I enjoyed Brad and Vinny's contributions to this Quick Look, but Alex was frustrating to listen to. There are some people whose voices are suited for audio, and Alex doesn't seem to be one of those people. 

IMO this game rules, you naysayers are crazy!!!

Brad is infuriatingly bad at this game.

Interesting, I'm not much of a fan of the racing genre, but I did grow up with Test Drive 1 and 2 along with Stunts in the early 90's, but never touched any of the later Test Drive titles - in some ways, very little has changed. The early Test Drive games also were sandboxy, though without any of the dialogue. I haven't researched this subject, but before the Gran Turismo games and such stuff, I think the Test Drive series was considered the most realistic in the genre back in the day, possibly along with Vette!, that I think tried to model San Francisco including traffic regulations and stuff like that (but not the geologic look - as I remember it, the entire city was totally flat).
