I really want to play this but online strategy games are SCARY

I really like the look of this game.

Might give it a try.

I downloaded it, but it just made me more interested in the single player component coming later this year. (The title should be updated to reflect that this is only "The Banner Saga: Factions")

How come the lady doesn't have a beard??

I saw it on Steam a few days ago and downloaded it without reading the description. So bummed when I realised after the intro that there was no single player.

Yeah, the video title is inaccurate. This is only The Banner Saga: Factions, the full single-player game known simply as 'The Banner Saga' is not out yet.

The single player is suppose to come out later this year. I'll just wait for that.

LOL I am screaming at the monitor for Patrick to attack their armor early. Instead of wasting attacks on their health when they have high armor. It is a good looking game tho and kind of addicting when you start playing it.

Your serious damage comes from when your Str (red) is higher then their Armor (blue)...but he kept going for health and missing....it is a surprisingly deep game with such simple mechanics.

Exactly what this guy said. Please update it so that people don't think this is a result of the very successful Kickstarter campaign.

I really want to see the single player game. Love the setting and art style.

Patrick has to start explaining less and playing more, we can figure it out by ourselves, at least he has to learn to explain while he plays, stop hanging in menus, START THE GOD DAMN GAME!

@patrickklepek Yes you are missing something! Attack their armor! Attacking their health when the armor value is high doesn't do all that much. You need to whittle the armor away and then attack their health when your STR value is higher than their Armor. You will deal much more damage.

This is technically The Banner Saga: Factions... Jus' sayin'.

Really like the art style

Love the genre and the art style. Don't like the lack of single player and the slow grinding nature of the F2P model is a complete turn off. Too bad, I'll not be playing this. Maybe the single player version that was mentioned will be better, but if it has this same kind of business model, I'll have to pass again.

Patrick really didn't pay attention to the tutorial did he, the whole Str and Shield thing is kind of key and he just ignored it entirely.

I didn't back the kickstarter but I'd love to play the single player of this.

Also Kleptok...you should have listen/read the tutorial about how str/shield work.

WOW! The art direction in this looks awesome! I know it's a small game, but just the little details, like the idle animations on the field units or the people watching the battle in the foreground/background of the arena, show how much care was put into it.

Not into the multiplayer aspect, but I'll be looking forward to the campaign. I hope everything works out for this developer.

This game is great! A good teaser for the upcoming singleplayer game and a fantastic multiplayer game on it's own. But there's so much confusion online over whether this has single player and if this is the end result of the kickstarter. Glad to hear Patrick's done his research though.

There's a bunch of cool mechanics (like turn order, willpower, blocking enemy movements or the armor/strength thing) he doesn't seem to have a hang on yet, but that's ok. This is representative of what this game is like if you've just started playing.

Listening to Patrick talking about strategy games is just really strange, his reference-points are so twisted.

If you like getting screwed over by random dice rolls then this game if for you! I would check out a single player version of this though.

Art style is great, looking forward to the single player component.

This looks (and plays) like an incredibly boring dumbed pvp version of Fire Emblem. Throw in some pay to win elements and any interest the cool artstyle generates has fully dissipated.

this game can't come soon enough. this little slice is such a tease, and i have zero interest in the grind or the multiplayer- but it's certainly piqued my interest.

The single player is going to be a full campaign, where you recruit characters along the way and have moral decisions to make and such. This was basically made to hammer out the combat systems, and probably to help fund the rest of development of the main game.

This looks interesting, but @patrickklepek really needs to sit down with some final fantasy tactics. Really painful to watch some of the tactical decisions!

I also second the love for Valkyria Chronicles. VC1 has a great story, but I really fell in love with VC2 on the PSP (which is available on PSN!)

Think about this. What if the 90% chance to hit with the arrow isn't actually 90% but more along the lines of 50-60%. Give us a little real dolla dolla and we will bump up the roll so that 90% actually means 90%. Wouldn't that be a devious thing for F2P games to do.....

I tried to play way back when they first released the private beta to backers, and it didn't go too well. I should probably try to hop back in.

I think that before playing any game for the first time, Patrick (or anyone) should play the tutorial sections before doing the quicklook.

I kinda hate this game. It moves too slowly and there aren't enough options at any given moment to make it feel strategic. I really hope the singleplayer version will be better.
