One question: Do I get to fight Danny Trejo at the end of this game?

Sub-question: If the answer is 'yes', is he holding a machete?

Woo, Umeå represent. There's three serious game companies downtown. One's making racing games for the iPhone, one's making DSi-ware games (no further comment necessary) and the third one made... this... I'm supposed to want to work for one of the three, being an aspiring video game artist in the area and all, but... Really, man, I don't know about this!

Any programmers in Umeå feel like hanging out and kinda feeling alright with not working for Coldwood?

Even though Trejo is bloody awesome each clip with him in it reminds me of how some games on the CD-I worked, like Mad Dog Macree (Mcgree?).

the not moving feet thing is just ridiculous. if they couldn't get around that one, it sort of defeats the purpose of the game. its like if you couldnt pull the analog stick on a controller back to run backwards. it's just something you'd expect would be there.

Anyone else think this game should've been called "Pit Fighter 2" from the tone...and quality?

" This game looks awful. I don't see how it has 4.5 stars on amazon. "

Because this game does a crappy job of holding player's hands, and reviewers these days seem to be dumber than people who buy this game on amazon. Seriously, what's with the 60 ability points not spent? Then thinking you have one to spend, and going in, selecting Heart, then cancelling out thinking you've spent a point while you haven't? Or what's with that stupid question about the timer where each fight that has one shows it on the fight screen and has Trejo tell you explicitly?  This kind of stuff is downright depressing.

As for the movement, you can in fact step forward. The game just won't register that - it has all its movement tied up to tilting one of the Move controllers forward. And what's with the silly comment about a limited set of animations the engine supports that your movements snap to?  I tested myself that it just follows your own movements, no snapping to animations of any kind.

I love this game. If you're at all into fighting/boxing, this is amazing. Sure the presentation isn't fantastic, and it isn't as accessible as most Nintendo titles, but it's a rare thing that we should be thankful for - a pretty hardcore motion game, and it works.

(EDIT: and Alex does a pretty good job of beating his opponents considering he's not spent a single ability point - and no Jeff's right doesn't register because the game expects him to stand the other way forward, but because with his left forward, he actually needs to turn his upper body forwards to make sure the right reaches his opponent. I'm not a great boxer myself and made this mistake too, but a bit of target practice - my favorite exercise by far and the best training in this game - showed me the errors of my ways)

Haven't tried this one, but:
When the game gets busy (both fighters hitting f.ex) the framerate dips to an unforgivable level.
Is this apparent in the game or is this technical recording stuff at gianbomb?

A couple of things I like to point out about 'the fight'.
The tracking is amazing. Your movement is copied exactly on screen.
It has rpg-like qualities. You have to train to gain skill-points and allocate them to your fighter's stats to improve his odds in the arena.
Your fighter sucks at the beginning of the fight, you have to train to make him do more damage, hit more accurate etc...
Most important: if you suck at fighting, your fighter will suck too! He hits where you hit and he hits as hard as you hit, so if your fighter is fighting like a pussy, it's only you who is to blame.

The game also has an on-line component.
Hitting real players in the face is even more fun than hitting npc's...

The game has it's faults and is far from perfect.
But it's one of the best hardcore motion implementations I've ever played.
Rent it if you want to be sure, but imho you need to try this game...

If Danny Trejo was teaching me how to fight... well he'd have probably already killed me and devoured my flesh so it wouldn't matter.

fyi, standing still doesn't mean you can't move your feet. So...turning your ankle will help you not hurt your elbow and follow through.

Well, Danny Trejo did say "don't move your feet," and you don't fuck with Danny Trejo.

This game is AWESOME.  Check out the player reviews...you know the people who have actually played it.  95% of people who own or have played this say its great.  Don't be sheep and listen to pro reviewers who don't have your best interest in mind.  I almost skipped this game because of all the 3/10 4/10 5/10 scores from mainstream gaming sites.  Look up videos on youtube, check the amazon or metacritic player reviews.  This is the most fun I've had with any motion game and this is coming from someone who picked up Wii day one launch.

YOU CAN MOVE YOUR FEET, i do it all the time.   Just don't leave the camera's view, duh!

I am annoyed to no end by alex standing sideways to fight, when all the instrucstions and visuals show the fights standing facing the camera.thats why half the shit isnt working like blocking.
