Quick Look: The Maw

That game is soo boaring. I have lost my will to live because of this...

Looks kinda fun and interesting if a but awkward to control.  That or Jeff just sucks, im not sure at this point.

Good preview!  One of the few XBLA games I've immediately bought after playing the demo once.  But I will admit that I didn't want to replay the first tedious level.  Later levels are looking intriguing and ramping up in complexity.  And yes the Maw just gets bigger and bigger.

One big complaint though: it's locking up my 360.  Twice on the TwistedPixel screen, and the end level screen where it installed the gamerpic took ~30 seconds.

The inspiration from Kirby and Boy&HisBlob are well done.  I'm willing to accept a bit of extra charm in lieu of content.  Considering the price works out to 100 MS points per game stage, I won't be surprised by more level packs coming along.  Or getting to control gangs of Maws like Overlord.

I think the game in general could get kinda boring, but I did enjoy the demo of it anyway and will probably buy it soon. I like the art style, and I just think its a kinda chill game that you can just relax completely and mess around in. Great video, Jeff.

After playing the demo, then watching Jeff's video, I have to say I really can't see what the hype is about. Perhaps the game changes more later on, but to me it seemed like a big grind, and not a very fun one in particular. I'm still optimistic though and I'll wait on reviews to decide whether to give it another shot.

Love the idea of the quick look, saves me from playing the demos. Looks like a fun game but I can see getting frustrated pulling the Maw to follow you etc.

The Maw does seem like a dick.  He goes around eating and burning everything in just the first few minutes.

Reminds me of Kirby and Pikmin. Buuut not as fun as either of them. I'll probably check it out though, seems like it only gets boring if you're a completionist and need to eat everything.

It's been mentioned before, but while it might LOOK confusing, the first few levels teach you everything to know and lay a foundation for much more complex puzzle platforming later on. For those of you that want more, I have it on good authority that there will be more levels via DLC. Mawsome.

Thanks Jeff, I had zero interest in this game until I saw this vid, I then tried the demo and subsequently bought the full game.

It's a bit short and easy for the price, but it is very well done and I could see more levels or a sequel in the future, if it does well - which looks like it is.
