Quick Look: The New NXE

One cool new feature they missed is the new Game Marketplace interface.

I don't understand who actually wants all this crap, when you can get it ten times better on a computer.

"  They essentially changed fucking nothing. How about getting rid of these "here's a giant button that takes up a third of your screen for each option" icons and replace it all with a nice vertical menu on the left that just has the word of the item(s) and maybe a tiny icon. Then utilize the rest of the space to its full potential. There is so much fucking wasted space on the 360 interface and 85% of it is just some form of fucking spam (for zune, bands, DLC, games on demand, television, actual commercial commercials, etc).

 
Actually, this is far fucking uglier than the previous ugly shit they used. Aside from the flood of white (yeah, that's really great on your monitor), it's now all gradients. What is this, 1996?!
 
Also, ESPN! Wow! Now my XBOX can be even douchier!
 
And who cares what kind of shitty music a bunch of random strangers on your friends list are listening to? (Actually, who the hell even listens to music on their 360, anyway?!).

the XMB sometimes gets in the way, but it's WAAAY simpler than any NXE, and for that, I thank you Sony. "

Got mine a couple hours ago. Just logged me off and asked for an update. I dig it personally, like how it keeps changing. I barely recognise the old blades dashboard anymore. Though I don't think Giant Bomb were meant to post anything about the beta.

I agreee I don't even own a PS3 but when i'm at my friends it always amazes me how clean and simple it is. I also own  a PSP same thing love it. You can actually have a theme and see it. "

are they finally moving all the guitar hero/rockband dlc's to their own special tab. im tired of that crap clogging up the add-ons menu. and did they scrap music market place

Looks like they haven't changed much. I still prefer the XMB.

This just looks looks boring. I haven't liked any of the 360's dashboards, but this is a major step backwards from the last one. At least the last one had depth and style. This one just looks dull. And it sucks that you can't listen to Zune music while browsing the dashboard. Who just sits at their television and listens to music?

Looks good, kinda prefer the old avatars, but good. I like how Microsoft is pulling away from the green a bit and going for a more white look.

Looks like they're focusing more on features I didn't care about to begin with.

When in doubt, copy the mac ui.

god i hate the menus makes me want to puke i use the 360 button to get around this looks just as bad as the one we have :(

It is the Xmedia Bar turned on it's side. Anyone else see this?? I know it is for the streamlining for the Kinect but what are they really saying about what they have done in the past??

Looks slick...and even though I do own a WIi, PS3, 360, and a gaming pc, I spend most of my gaming time on the 360. 
 
Microsoft is slowly moving closer to Sony's XMB, which is a good thing. I've been a huge fan of XMB since the launch event for the PSP in San Francisco back in 2005. It's so fast and slick compared to the NXE, but this at least seems like an overall upgrade. Good job Microsoft.

Looks very cool, much cleaner than the current UI.

I'm either getting Kinect or Move, but probably not both. Kinect is in front at the moment.

I got this and honestly couldn't tell much of a difference.

Still no focus on actual games, though :/. But still plenty of advertisements on this premium service... sigh.

Can't wait to watch Aussie rules on my xbox in HD.  SO PUMPED FOR THAT.

Very surprising, I might even get that Zune pass.

I just got in myself very sexy, although theres a lot of neat stuff that was overlooked.

Very pumped to hear that Netflix now has a search option.  That will be one of the best things to come out of this update.

Has anyone else noticed that they moved "Quick Launch" over to the "Games" menu on the in-game popup?  That's a major misfeature to me.  The whole point of Quick Launch is to have it right-freaking-there when you hit the Guide button. Now, it's one menu over, and down.

Speaking of talking about redundancy, does anyone remember when Spike TV was The New TNN?

They skipped out over the updated marketplace stuff. It's much more organised now and stuff is where you expect it to be.
