Another Witcher Quick Look, another decidedly un-Quick Quick Look...

The intro cinematic does become important later on in the game. Actually it's just pretty important in general, and is explained again in The Witcher 2.

Another case of a quick look selling a game which the trailer made me dismiss.

Such a good game. I'm glad it's been gaining speed ever since it was released because it didn't sell well for awhile.

Having just finished the Witcher 2 with Triss and the Roche path I think I now have to go back to 1 and see what happens when you choose Shani over Triss in Witcher 1.

The story of the cinematic about Adda and the Striga curse was a book included in the Enhanced Witcher retail release. Vinny should track that down. It also includes extra quests!

Quick tip: If you control-click on a container (ie. dead monsters), then it auto-collects the items for you. Saved me a ton of time while playing this.

Also, that red thing in the swamp is NASTY. I had to run like hell whenever it showed up, and didn't manage to actually kill it until near the end of the chapter I beleive.

Vinny seems so excited showing the opening cinematic to Ryan. Enthusiasm like that is so infectious.

This game is in my steam library, waiting. Waiting for the day when I get a half decent computer so that I too, may make morally ambiguous choices and collect creepy erotic cards of ladies.

I made all the Shani relationship choices in Witcher 1 and I don't think they even mention her name in the sequel.

Near the top of my list of games to get if I ever get a decent PC.  I might pick up the book while I wait.

I really want to play The Witcher 2, but i'm building a PC for it so i'll have to wait for the 360 version.

still playing the Witcher somewhere in Vizima... and i just made the mistake of finding The Last Wish book while browsing one of the soon-to-be closed Borders stores. Damn you Vinny!

Given where he is in the game he must have spent about 15 of that 20 hours reading the bestiary entries and playing dice poker.

Vinny's enthusiasm in this video is the sort of thing Giant Bomb needs ways more of in their videos these days. He's always so positive, in contrast to the rest of them.

I like this game a lot more then The Witcher 2.

The Witcher starts so slow I was never able to get to the "good stuff." Witcher 2 is fantastic though. I need to revisit The Witcher 1 some time.

Yes! I love Vinny and this QL was great! I actually started a playthrough of The Witcher this february but I stopped after reaching the swamp. This made me get back into it and I am not regretting it for a second. Thanks!

one of my favorite series so far, love the story and Geralt as a character.

I bought this game before the enhanced edition was announced and my PC couldn't handle it. Then I started playing it on a secondhand PC that could run it only to have the graphic's card fail. I don't think the game wants me to play it, despite how beautiful it is.

This is why I like the game drought season: Quick Looks like this that are just for fun.

And yeah, this game is AWESOME. It's got its share of flaws, but it overall it's a great experience.

I still prefer this game to the sequel, not that the sequel wasn't great. Had a lot more polish certainly. I really liked how this game had a lot of detective-y parts to it. You'd be running around gathering clues by way of interrogation, stalking, etc. Vizima in particular was a highlight of Witcher 1 for me. Story was solid, the combat was fun.. this game just sort of came out of left field and suckerpunched me with awesome. I know a lot of people didn't like the sleuthing and timed button presses for combat, but those things made me enjoy it more.
 
I have to say I'm glad this first game is getting some exposure after the sequel did so well. This first game was great too.

Inspired by Vinny, I played through this entire game. 40 hours well spent. Loved it. Can't wait to play the Witcher 2.

The interface in this game is fucking fantastic. A true PC game.

I've bought the enhanced edition but never played it, but after watching this, I kinda have to.

Hah, I literally just did the quest with gramps. Took the right path and booked it through the swamp. Realized pretty quickly that those tall things will fuck your shit up real bad. Made me think I was underlevelled or something.

But the Witcher 1 had a lot more "Polish" if you know what I mean :D
