I used to play the hell outta ths game.

Virtua Tennis was incredible. It's really a shame that the new ones aren't really any good.

My favorite game for the Dreamcast. I was ten and we did not have it long.

Virtua Tennis is awesome, gotta love the minigames.

For me the DC was all about Shenmue and Skies of Arcadia. I remember December 2000, Shenmue had recently been released in Europe, I sat in a small cottage on a small 14" TV somewhere on the Swedish countryside. The snow was falling slowly outside as it was in the game and I felt that at that point games had become virtual reality. The world in Shenmue just felt so real and you could do so much more than in any other game. There is a lot of talk about when games would look so good that you could stop making new hardware and just focus on making games because they looked so realistic that you don't need to focus anymore on grahpics. To me the Dreamcast was that console. Of course today I realize I was wrong, but at the time it didn't feel like games needed to look any better than that. Sure the PS2 was out, but it had yet to produce anything exiting. For people who don't remember the early PS2 it was a huge disappointment. It wasn't really until MGS2 and FFX the PS2 took off and all the great games we today think of when we think of the PS2 had yet to come out.

This game is badass. And yes, it ran at 60fps.

This game brought me and my 7 roomates together, Shyam Signh was an all around bastard on the court.

Please, for the love of god, do a 4-player retrospective of Chu Chu Rocket. That game defines the DC

Virtua Tennis aged extremely well. I still play it when I want some arcade action.

Now I can enjoy a good arcade sports game all these simulation sports games I don't care for.

I became a fan of tennis (and Tommy Haas) through Virtua Tennis. Never paid attention to the sport before then, but now I just find it awesome to watch.
 
This made for a great party game, too. Especially when you unlocked some of the crazier items like woks.

Mario Tennis 64 = the best tennis game ever.

While the DC was never "HD," it did look pretty sweet when hooked up to a VGA monitor.

Heh. Hearing the VMU beep anytime it goes back to the menu brings me back.

If anyone can make a sizable contribution towards "BAM! Said The Lady" going mainstream, it's Ryan "Feed The Birds" Davis.

I remember spending hours after school in the mall playing this game. So much fun.

I was part of the failure of the Dreamcast because I waited the next year for the PS2.. and I actually kind of feel bad about it looking back. Wish I picked one up on the day it came out, but my parents could only get me one system and I was loyal to the playstation at the time so I went with that. These games still look great though and still hold up.
