Quick Look: Tiny Brains

Eh this game looks okay. It was annoying how they weren't using the blocks on the wave thing, but that still wouldn't have been particularly fun I don't think.

I really like the idea too, tiny mutated creatures going through an obstacle course and there are some decent little puzzles in there too. It just doesn't look like it controls all that well.

Not too mention that performance issues on new consoles is always a bummer.

So glad I didn't get a PS4 or XBO yet. Give or take a couple of decent-yet-passable titles the games have been largely an absolute joke so far.

Framerate issues and tearing out the wazoo on a PS4, seriously?

So. Uninspired art style, poor technical performance, repetitive gameplay, lightly racist Russian character, unsettling amount of joy taken in the core meanness of animals being experimented on.

Next-gen, woo.

Oh man, what was that game from like the PS2/XBOX era where you played as a lab rabbit trying to escape. IIRC you were tied to some...thing? I rented it, and that's about all I remember. I think it was either terrible or invisible.

The humor in this seems so off-base. Some of the gags seem almost funny but enough of them are lazy or overly zany that it gets tired fast. Pinky and the Brain had a similar setting but kept its tone well-balanced between the zany nonsense and legit black comedy/parody. Like someone in here mentioned, the gleeful cruelty in these games is grating at best and in dubious taste at worst.

Are the characters going to discover Laika's skeleton in the space level?

I liked the music. Samuel Laflamme is the composer.

Is this Unreal Engine 3 or 4? I couldn't find that info online.

And I love Drew's, "NOPE" comment at the beginning. That gave me a well-needed chuckle.

Gah, they keep almost subliminally playing the percussion riff from Blurred Lines in the game music, it's driving me fucking crazy. I can't be the only one hearing this.

Kind of funny how they laugh when they figure out they can also just mario butt stomp enemies to kill them, they instantly and completely forget about crushing them with the ice blocks, even when faced with dozens of tiny chicks coming at them.

I like the setting and I think it's good visually. I don't think I'd enjoy playing it much though. Looks like it gets old fast.

This looks boring to me. It looks like a game of tedious tasks, one after another.

Man, whoever thought that having 13 or so waves of weird ass chickens you can only kill by using the shoddy jump controls (or those squirrely looking abilities) was a good idea simply shouldn't exist. Seriously. Also I found the scientist/narrator to be insufferable. Looks like the game was made for 5 year olds, the controls/"story" seemed so condescending...

I played an earlier build of this at PAX and had a great time with it with4-player co-op. It didn't have any graphical hitching either. What happened?

This is one of those games you *really* need to play with all 4 players, otherwise it's kind of a lame attempt at a puzzle game where one guy does all the work while the other just kind of sits there.

I also played it on a midrange PC, absolutely no framerate issues to speak of there.

This looks like a bad PS3 game.

@mb: Which I guess it is, it's not like it was made for the PS4 or couldn't run on the PS3.

Maybe a Viking or two would make it a little more interesting.

This game seems poorly made, and quite boring.

Watching this really gave me the itch to break out 'Quantum Conundrum' again. Yes, it was a bit too 'Portal' -- complete with wiseass narrator/commenter -- for its own good, but the switching mechanics made the puzzles quite a bit of fun.

I was way into this until the combat started. Fuck that noise. Shame, since I really like the cheesy not-actually-funny-yet-entertaining-anyway humor and concept.

Yep looks like a puzzle game. Next.

Everything about this game just sort of falls flat for me. So I can understand there apathy for it.

I'm really mad that they discovered all these inventive ways to take out the enemies, then found out that they could stomp on them and only ever did that from then on...

Speed run that shit son! Just, um, not now. Gotta savor it some other time, yeah that's it. Savor it. Later on.

This looks... *yawn* ...incredible.

Having you and 3 friends doing the challenge mode seems the only way to get some fun out of this.

When I first saw the above video I thought the game looked OK but after seeing the quick look and looking back on it, I guess it was just the players that made it fun-looking.

From what I've seen and played of this, it's a 4 player game that suffers quite a bit when played with 1-3. Curious if they'd have liked it more with 2 additional players.

The combat seems unnecessary, but man, Jeff was overly harsh on the game. It seems fine.
