It's missing two core aspects of a good shooter: awesome guns and cool looking monsters. These guns look like boring pew-pew toys and monsters are just polygons.

This game is nota rogue-like. Neither is Spelunky for that matter.

You just straight-up murdered those poor hugbots!

I've been enjoying it so far. Usually I'm terrible at these kind of games, so I'm surprised how fast I've been improving. Plus I like the art style, and it's not 8-bit retro.

The bosses are a bit strange though, they always seem immediately deadly or trivial to defeat, not s much in between.

Or at least have a roguelike mode.

The concept of a Doom daily challenge makes me really happy to think about.

I've been playing Tower of Guns for ages, super glad to see it make it to the Steam platform. It's really rather great at what it does, which is fill a niche that very few other shooters do. No persistent levelling, no 'XP' in the present accepted way, not realistic. Just Quake with Rogue Legacy elements thrown in. It's great!

This game doesn't seem to be poorly made, but it sure seems terminally boring. It could really use some more lively music, too.

Shooting slow-moving bullets at rooms of slow moving turrets is a recipe for putting me to sleep.

Interesting concept here, but needs a ton of refinement.

I don't have a super powerful gaming PC. My GPU wasn't top of the line when it was new 2 years ago and my CPU is from 2008. This runs perfectly for me with everything turned on at 1080 so it's some issue with their machine. It could still be the game's fault, but don't be scared of the performance if you don't have a great PC.

It's funny I actually thought the game looked way more bland in the trailers than here. It was dreadfully gray and brown then and now I see it has enough color that it has little of that for me. It reminds me of a grungy unreal game mixed with Borderlands which I actually kinda like.

Might grab it when it's cheap for podcasts or some such. Maybe not the most essential game in the world but I see it being good enough kind of a game for people.

The title had me concerned that this was going to be a tower defense game but it looks like a slow Quake 3 mod. I'm not sure that is much of an improvement.

Apart from the aforementioned DoomRL, which is an actual (top town, turn based) Roguelike set in the Doom universe, there was an random map generator for Doom back in the day, considering it worked pretty fine in '95 (some people tried to upload randomly generated maps as their own creations to various Doom communities) I'm sure someone could improve the algorithm to make more varied and interesting levels and bundle it with one of the source ports for some kind of daily challenge thing.

I don't want to be a jerk, but this is one of those instances where even as a layman, I have to assume that nobody on the project had much experience with animation (or at least, not much experience with rigging models or what have you). So as a result all of the enemies are turrets/blocky droids that rotate, and the most complicated animations look to be on the reloading of the guns.

The game seems like a cool concept. I guess I just think it's a pity that the dev couldn't find a few more developer buddies to work with, to make a slightly more fleshed out game or something? A whole tower full of various turrets just doesn't seem like a super fun opponent, and the ones that launch spiky balls that bounce unpredictably seem like kind of a drag.

Looks like they were only two people doing this game, and one of them only seems to have written the music, so there's probably something to that. I still think this is a pretty decent game though. I do hope it'll lead to more fleshed out roguelikelikelike FPSes though, preferably something with more variety in items, enemies and level designs.

puzzle & bullet hell trial rooms randomly strung together with some unlocks between games sounds REALLY cool. I'm just not into the enemies, guns, sounds, music, animations,.. pretty much everything else. They might be on to something though. Hope to see more.
