Quick Look: Ultra Street Fighter IV

Was hoping to wait out for the PC version but just grabbed it on ps3.

I got it on PS3 also for the same reason :) Loving it so far.

Shame Capcom really REALLY didn't want to spend any money on this.

I bought Super at launch, got my ass handed to me by AI for about 15 minutes, then never touched it again. That they kept releasing new editions of the game sort of cemented my "fighting games are really not for me" theory, which is ultimately probably a shame.

I love the guys, and I am not asking them to be good at the game or anything, but with something like this, where it is just an update to the old game, they could at least be a little prepared to talk about what the actual changes are.

Probably goes without saying that I'm excited...

Gonna wait till Arcade Edition goes free with Games for Gold later this month before buying this, despite my scrubduggery at fighting games, especially Japanese ones.

My SE and TE SFIV fightsticks tell me I should probably buy this and uh, play it.

I haven't cared about fighting games for a long time but good for people who do I guess?

Also Brad isn't good enough to not look at command lists, like come on dude...just look at a webpage for five minutes before doing these and they'll be much better. That being said I don't know that much about USFIV, but still.

I hope the new staffer is secretly a fighting master....and says nothing to Jeff until the next fighting game Quick Look.

I think he realized that he doesn't really know enough about the game anymore for the command list to help much in a half hour quick look.

Jeff said something about retail disc DLC not migrating to Steam, but I thought that that should not be an issue with USF4 because it includes all previously released DLC? Is that not correct?

Also, the reason Brad doesn't want to look at the command list is because he thinks it makes for a bad video. He's wrong, but that's his reasoning. Not executing a single special move from a new character makes for worse video than 10 seconds of looking at a command list, IMO (although, to be fair, he eventually guessed Poison's ultra combos).

True, in the grand scheme of things it's pointless, but just jumping back and forth not knowing what the commands per character are, and not generally good enough at the game/not good enough at all of the "basic" commands (fireball, dragon punch, charge) to improvise, is just so boring to watch. I'd like to see them actually try stuff out and discover things than just jump back and forth tiredly.

Anyway I don't think I'm gonna get this until it shows up on Steam.

Always a shame when Giant Bomb chooses to pass up an opportunity to do another scrub league in favour of a pointless amateur-hour Quick Look of a fighting game, ah well. The MK9 scrub league was immensely entertaining!

They do have really bad memory ... Even I remember the previous SF quick look where they played as Evil Ryu and Oni.

As a follower of the FGC, I'm excited for the game, because I get to see how the pros master the added characters and find new options with the rebalanced old characters in tourneys. However, as a gamer, I'm glad this is the final update to this game. Capcom needs to make and release either SFV or SFAIV. Look at all the hype MK10 is getting...

A QL of a new version of a fighting game wherein they play old characters and don't look at move lists. Useful.

Am I hallucinating or is there not a single feather on what are clearly theropods of some variety. Taking artistic liberties with science is one thing, but just making them look dumber than they actually were is another.

As far as "the people playing online now are all really good".... not true. I run into people daily who have no idea what they are doing (but seem to be having a good time)

I think Brad was sand bagging the whole time. I saw some pretty sick links in that first match from with Oni... not only a c.lp to c.mp, but also I saw him link c.hp from a hit confirmed c.mp counter-hit. Too good.

This is why I come to Giant Bomb, for complete in-depth-looks at the latest fighting games.

I love the insane amount of gratuitous sexuality with everything involving Poison. It's like someone from Capcom is winking every time the camera zooms in on her butt and/or boobs.

To be fair, in the game all the characters moves have been slightly changed/balanced to accommodate new characters, no? Obviously you can't SEE such things as it's all in the game code but I mean, it's something I guess.

Giantbomb fighting game quicklooks, like watching a child crash a Ferrari and saying "Yeah it seems pretty fast". Also why they seem to want a new Darkstalkers, Mortal Kombat or new Alpha game baffles me, they don't play the fighting games they have, why would they want more!?
