Hold on. In Halloween, Annie didn't sin, and The Shape still stalked and killed her.

Her biggest mistake was not realizing the car was unlocked when she got in it.

This looks super interesting to me. Although, I have to say, when everyone watches this kind of movie their response is always "why would you do that? That's a terrible choice!", it seems strange to me that the game has you make that choice. I'd be curious to see this sort of game where you can make the sensible decision.

Ugh, I so wish this was on PC. It looks really cool, but there's no way I'm buying a PS4 any time soon. Maybe when the price drops or when I suddenly get a lot of money.

@brad: The clues you find actually have a strong impact on the story. It can lead to characters surviving situations they otherwise wouldn't (such as you finding that bat) and it can even help the gang piece together the mystery, thus leading to different endings. Gathering a majority of the collectibles and making the correct decisions is the only way to keep everyone alive at the end.

Man, I really like horror games, and this one is making a great job of standing out.

Watched Mary Kish play through this game beginning to end. It's a really great interactive movie. Not sure if it's worth $60 but like $30-40 for sure. A great "party" game where a bunch of people can sit around and decide what to do next.

Well this looks super cool, and I know my wife would really like it.

With that said, there is some funky mouth in this game.

I'm just so, so happy that this game exists and doesn't suck. I've wanted something like this since Indigo Prophecy's opening slasher-y moments. I hope this is a big success, since every slasher needs a sequel or five. Or imagine if they just went ahead and licensed some franchises and made this with those. Holy shit, the possibilities.

Yeah, I was really surprised to hear that this was full retail price. But after reading a few glowing reviews, I bit the bullet last night. Although I'm just a few hours in, I am super satisfied with my purchase. The exploration segments have been brief and focused and I was making significant choices every minute, so I'm likely to replay this thing when I'm in a horror mood or for Halloween next year without feeling like I have to slog through clumsy Quantic Dream investigation sequences.

But this is a hard sell to all but hardcore slasher film and Quantic Dream fans at $60. For $40, I'd recommend it to everyone.

Thanks for the Quick Look. After seeing this game in action, it's definitely something I'd like to play. I think I'll save it for Halloween and hope for a sale.

I'm slightly befuddled by your use of this quote. Are you confusing Peter Stormare with Ted Levine, or am I missing something?

Oh man, that main menu. Games need more controllable faces in main menus.

Also, is Mike the character Ward from Agents of SHIELD? Looks very similar.

Yep, same actor. They clearly got a decent agent in LA to pick up TV talent for the game. It is for this reason that my first playthrough will attempt to engineer the death of Mike as soon as possible.

That mocap Peter Stormare is pretty impressive stuff. Definitely importing some of the scenery-chewing style from The Blacklist. It's not out of the uncanny valley yet but this stuff is really showing off what 8GB of RAM and a modern GPU can do for rendering human skin (rather than LA Noire's "painted texture" faces that couldn't really do photo-realism or even a fancy CGI look).

The positive coverage has definitely pushed this from a "maybe" to a "must play".

Every game's title screen should be Super Peter Stormare 64.

I want to pick this up on sale maybe toward the holidays, but it's going to be hard not to spoil this on Twitch or something.

The gameplay is sort of minimalistic but I think thats perfect for this specific game as it keep the story moving. You want to know what happens next, you don't necessarily want to look around for the 3 cogs to put in the elevator mechanism to proceed forward. Until Dawn keeps the "action" segments short and exciting, perfectly blending them into the wonderfully acted cutscenes.

Honestly I was incredibly impressed with how this game is made. This made me feel a little guilty for watching the entire thing as I now have very little incentive to actually buy it but I was hooked and really wanted to know what happens in the end - the twists are pretty great! I wonder how much this cost because it looks like it must have been a fortune. Almost all stages use unique assets, everything is handcrafted, tons of custom rigged cutscenes, known actors.. man.

I think Until Dawn completely succeeds in being the game that Heavy Rain was trying to be all those years ago.

Looks better than I expected. I didn't watch this QL, but I watched the first hour on Gamespot and Game Informer. I don't want to spoil anything more.

I have the game on reserve at my local Redbox for when I get off work. Can't wait to run through it tonight.

Seems really awesome, but MGS5 is going to be my priority right now. My local redbox actual has it in stock, but 3 dollars a day is steep for something I'll want to play through multiple times. This seems like a great Halloween game, so I'll pick it up around then (it'll, most likely, be deeply discounted as well).

This immediately goes onto my 'Watch someone else play through this, then watch someone show me all the possible endings then..

Cause man, Heavy Rain was one of my favorite games on the PS3 (cause I'm all about story). And seeing this being a version of that well done is real good..but I'm abysmal at horror games (like remember the face-hugger jump-scare fill the whole screen type deaths? Yah, I shout, wake up my whole household and have to turn my computer off and hug a teddy bear (not really but you get the point).

But seeing Jumpscares and such on video, for what ever reason, doesn't do anything for me..I guess assuming they are not like that above. Hopefully in a week or two someones got a play through (or 5) of this game, and we can see how it goes.

@blueneurosis: Honestly, if The Order was more like this, I'd be interested in it. Trying to keep everyone in a steampunk supernatural investigation squad alive through a vexing mission sounds way more entertaining than the generic steampunk shooter we got.

APPENDEUM: Now I want the Until Dawn team to make a similar game in a Cthulhu mythos story. Same body count as a slasher flick, more mind-twisting weirdness.
