I finally beat Mom but lost to the Devil.

I hope you do FTL next Patrick, didn't like it so much at first but now I'm hooked!

Once you unlock the post-heart levels, there's another option besides battling Satan. I think beating both options would be a good end point. There's still yet another level below that, but it requires more grinding through the extra bosses to unlock it.

One big tip - you can bomb open doors of rooms before you defeat the enemies. So especially on lower levels with tough rooms, sometimes its worth it to just dodge and bomb out the other side instead of trying to defeat everything. Oh, and you may have realized it after you left the Devil Room, but The Nail provides those stat bonuses and a gives you a soul heart when you use it, so there was no reason to keep the Book of Revelations.

I hope Patrick doesn't actually think Satan is the end of all this. He has quite a ways to go before he's really done and it would be a bummer to see him miss out on all the floors added in WotL.

I think you've been playing long enough to know this about the secret rooms: They can only exist when there's at least three rooms on the sides of it. The location of the shop doesn't factor in at all. The spot above the boss room in your third run was literally the only spot it could have been.

Man, seeing Patrick continue to use the Sacrifice Room even after the chest spawned was just agonizing to watch. I know he didn't know, but man what a waste of so many soul hearts. Really kind of wish he had a mentor like his friends at the CAH offices with Spelunky.

I was just lying down while watching and then woke up so badly thanks to that moment.

I always thought those rooms were really strangely designed. I only use them early on when my total life is low and there are some healing hearts lying around, so I can get myself down to a half heart to get the guaranteed chest and then get back up full. Otherwise it's almost never worth it just to throw potentially tons of hearts at it. The spiked door rooms are much more sensible - sacrifice a certain amount of health to see what's in there.

You, me, and Patrick three. Earlier today, I managed to Joker my way past the Heart with a crazy Tech 2/Brimstone build and 2 lives, but couldn't recognize Satan's laser cues fast enough to dodge.

Great episode today Patrick. Glad to see a couple early deaths to keep you humble, then you locked down that secret rooms have to have at least three rooms adjacent, then you got the bible and used it efficiently!

Congrats on making it to Satan, if you keep playing with Cain it won't be long until you will get a good seed and become powerful enough to waste him.

This is why one of the super secret rooms is full of nothing but hearts.

@generic_username: Congrats! I actually did the same last night, but I was firing blood lasers out of my mouth at that point so Satan didn't really stand a chance.

Look. I know the "praise Lord Gamblor" stuff is the stupidest. But I chuckle every time.

I like how aggressively, oppressively terrible everything got at the end. No one on that floor wanted Patrick there.

Does anyone know exactly what the "Everything is terrible!" unlock does? I've heard everything from less health drops from bosses to harder layouts of rooms.

Man, I'm just not having any luck against Satan, or more like the floor layout kills most of my hp by the time I get to him. All my luck with items seems to have been used up on earlier Mom kills -_- I did unlock Cathedral today and killed Isaac first try though.

Is Patrick going to go all the way and beat The Chest before calling this, or will he just stop at Satan or Isaac?

I personally cannot watch these live. I dont know if it's a UK thing, but I cannot for love nor money get Twtich to work reliably.

I have two different internet connections at my house at the moment, 100mb cable, and 10mb phone line broadband, and they're both just as bad as each other.

Unfortunatley I have to watch the archive, and I always spoil it for myself by reading comments while the title card is playing. Silly me!

Tonight I beat the Cathedral for the third time. This time I used Cain. I managed to get Brimstone + Polyphemus which made my charge-up really long, but my blood vomit super-deadly. That Platinum God website says it does about 135 damage. Few enemies stood any chance.

As someone who has been playing this game since release, I never knew that rule. I'm guessing that means you need 5 cents before exiting a level for there to be a chance of an arcade in the next one?

Also, I think FTL would be fantastic for this feature.

I was there for this, and we were literally trying to get him to make the smart moves later on, like take The Bible and The Fool card into the first Mom fight so he could get the Book of Revelations back, attempt to get 15 coins for the Habit, and get him to go into that arcade on the next to last map.

Yeah, ever since Patrick has had a wiki open that he most of the time looks at, he seems to have stopped looking at the chat for tips altogether. It might also be the terrible Twitch delay that by the time he asks for help and the inquiry catches up to us, he has since moved on. I really think it would be better if Patrick simply waited for us to be able to try and help him rather than take the brief pause to search the wiki.

@generic_username: I've got about 400 hours on Isaac so yeah I can confirm it's not always the case. My memory is hazy but perhaps before WotL it was so, the expansion did have a few issues (for instance, explosive diarrhoea never spawns any more).

But yes, absolutely nothing to do with the shop.

Higher chances for champion (the alternate color, tougher versions) enemies and bosses, higher chances for the three curses (Curse of Darkness, Curse of the Labyrinth, Curse of the Lost) to occur on each floor, and bosses drop less health when beaten.

Listen to the chat? People get upset. Don't listen to the chat? People get upset. I CAN'T WIN.

I try to balance between the two. I do read the chat. Just not when I'm making decisions usually.

@patrickklepek: Definitely better that you don't read the chat, the ENTIRE point of these games is discovery. People wanting you to read the chat honestly don't get the spirit of these features IMO.

I wasn't very interested in the Rebirth remake until I saw it in action. http://bindingofisaac.com/ Also very intriguing to hear that the creator itself wasn't happy with the art either.

I hope Scoops revisits the game when that comes out, because it seems like it'll be the definitive version. Maybe it'll actually run properly on my computer now.

Don't feel bad, Scoops. I had my first Sheol run today and got killed by Satan too. In fact, I'm also at the fourth ending (the quarter).

This was fun to watch live. The multiple sacrifices to Gamblor was making the chat go crazy.

And just before the end you found a Super Secret room. They were added in WotL and work in pretty much the exact opposite way as regular secret rooms.
