Great review. I am done with the whole "it's good for a Wii game" crap.

@ManMadeGod:
And yet the entire point of this video review was to say that this was "good for a Wii game" and then defend that position.

Great review! Far better games for the Wii out there. It's about time we got rid of the FPS.

Great review. Graphics look surprisingly sharp, too bad the game's sub-par. Maybe I'll rent it .

It never looked like anything special.    Nintendo should just give up on hardcore games for the Wii, and do what they do best now - casual gaming.

But reading other reviews I got the impression that you can tweak the controls in such a way that you'll find at least a control scheme that works good with you. That why I was surprised the reviewer complains about controls without mentioning the customizability.
My thoughts exactly. Most of Jeff's points are really solid but I still can't believe the controls can be as sub par as he claims, especially since he doesn't mention a single word about the game's huge variety of customization options.

Story and presentation wise, the game does look pretty bland.

I see this game and Red Steel series as stepping stones towards a next-gen motion controlled FPS done at its highest potential on gameplay, graphics and story.

Im glad a review speaks the truth about this damn game.  I bought it based on the praises of some other sites reviews and I felt ripped off.  Its not a bad shooter but Im pretty sure I played it 10 years ago only with a different controller.

Its great that the Wii has a good shooter compared to other Wii shooters but when you compare it to the top tier on other consoles and pc's it just even come close to stacking up.

No, there is no bias against the Wii. The Wii has been receiving a free pass on most of its games because...well it's the Wii. I think Jeff is right, just saying something is pretty good for a Wii game is lazy and disingenuous. I would also add that other reviewers have been doing a disservice to their readers by not saying what they really think about Wii games. I guess I'm just being a Wii hater too, huh? Even though I own a Xbox360 and a Wii.

Jeff: This game is the balls on the Wii. I didn't buy a Wii shooter expecting it to rival a PS3 shooter much like I don't buy bowling games for my PS3 and expect them to rival my Wii.. Look at it for what it is.. Fun; and the most I have had on my Wii since it was bought. Up until now I have generally agree'd with you but because I myself had similar opinions, not because I am taking your word, any good reviewer or journalist will encourage people to seek their own opinion and in this case I think you are throwing your misplaced disappointment for this game at us a little too hard. For the Wii, it doesn't get any better and sometimes when the mood strikes, it can be more fun than anything I have ever played. But that's just me (and possibly someone else if they care to discover it for themselves instead of being spoon fed a perspective and adopting it as their own opinion).

@d0x:
It wasn't meant to compare to a shooter on the PC or Console. When comparing something with gameplay elements as unique as Conduit it is irresponsible to hold it to the standards of any current shooter built with different elements in mind. Would someone compare PunchOut from the Wii to a PS3 version of the same game but without the motion control scheme and expect it to remain appealing on PS3? If it was built for the Wii with the control scheme as the main focus it seems that without that control scheme it seems the game would lose most of it's appeal considering the main focus of the developers was lost on the version for the NON - Wii systems.
If we look at this reasonably; Conduit was a Wii exclusive, meaning the developers understood that it has no appeal if released on any other system or console. It was developed much like Wii-Sports, for the Wii only, since it wouldn't make as much sense anywhere else considering the emphasis on motion control.
The experience is not like that of any other console shooter. This game is offering a fun and playable shooter that follows the classic storyline and linear gameplay but does it well while incorporating a unique but intuitive and completely customizable control scheme. Give me a break Jeff: This is my first disagreement with you and generally you make sense but you lost me here for sure..

This is how reviews should be, and can be held up as definitive proof why Jeff Gerstmann SHOULDN'T have continued working at GameSpot even if he was allowed to stay, where this kind of journalism probably would have been frowned upon. GREAT review Jeff I applaud you for not taking the easy way out like so many others before you.

@Sliqcore: It is fair to compare it to every other shooter.  First off the dev's in every interview I've seen or read made it sound like it was going to be an amazing FPS regardless of platform.  Second the controls dont affect any of my or Jeff's gripes.  My issue was not with the controls it was with the me too gameplay.  They really didnt do anything new or creative aside from make the controls very tweakable.

Conduit isnt a bad game, its just incredibly average and just because its on the Wii doesnt mean it gets bonus points.  Even if you made the graphics, audio and ai to match the 360 or ps3 benchmark titles this game would still be boring.

Awesome review! Graphics look quite good for a wii game, but i wouldn't bother playing this when there are tons of other great fps games on the PC/Xbox360/Ps3.
