Thank you for helping Jeff and Dan in their nonsense yesterday.

Austin's story about him playing as Luke defending the Hoth base is a prime example why I hope they can fix the balancing and map issues so those become regular moments.

The game inherently allows for emergent gameplay, and the big draw is the fact that those emergent moments are contexualized in the Star Wars universe which is basically what childhood fantasies are made of. However, some parts of the design seem shallow or designed to be as simple as possible without too much overhead in development. Things like vehicles only being available in power up form, spawning focused on other teammates positions, barely any difference in the classes besides basically how far you want to shoot someone. This means less variety to allow for those moments, and instead it's replaced with the BF3 +4 style of frustrating chaos.

Are they also going to tell us how to turn on video recording equipment or what the DMX switch does?

Hm, what a coincidence the topic of this is. I just got off the internet about an hour ago, after I was looking for Star Wars and Star Trek concept art for my desktop background.

Always wonderful to have Rich around! It's great to hear from him.

I'm really enjoying Battlefront so far. The paintball analogy is pretty perfect - it definitely feels like you have a distinction between the tighter, more balanced and competitive Drop Zone mode, and the role-playing, chaotic, huge scale sprawl of the Hoth map. I personally prefer the former; though I do still enjoy the fantasy fulfilment of the latter. (Incidentally I do think it's pretty funny that the rebels struggle to ever win on Hoth.)

If I was to suggest any change so far it'd be reducing accuracy at range a tad with the standard weapons - there's already a long-range rifle option and it feels a little too easy to cut someone down across the map (especially given how many players are on that Hoth map and how open a lot of the terrain is). In general I'm really enjoying it a lot - I like the low-cooldown equipment and the super fast pace of everything. It feels less like a Battlefield game than I was expecting it too, but in a good way.

Pretty sure "AY TEE AY TEE" is technically correct, but Rebels say "at-at" in panicked communications and whatnot when they're under siege from them and freaking the hell out. So I think the guys were close enough.

Nothing like a beastcast in the morning to help brighten my day.
