There was also a Silver Dollar City in Gatlinburg, TN; at some point in the mid-80s Dolly Parton bought an interest in it and it was renamed to Dollywood, which is a big tourist attraction today.... Dan's description of the Branson park jibes with what I remember. Though Dollywood has been expanded considerably since the name change.

The one time we went to TN Silver Dollar City was in '82, right after we visited the Knoxville World's Fair; the same one Bart/Nelson/Milhouse drove to in Bart on the Road. Ooooh, serendipity.

Wow! Dan is on the Beastcast. What a surprise... not.

I'm glad Dan's staying there for just a month, I would really miss the chemistry he has with the West crew. This is the best of both worlds, we get him for a bit interacting with the East crew (Vinny-Dan content, yall!) and then he returns to the West to go back to the usual video features we all know and love.

Dan is my hero after his TellTale post the walking dead rant.

@laner: Branson is totally a slightly shittier Dollywood. Not that Dollywood is great, by any stretch of the imagination.

When I was 8 I was road tripping from DC to Houston with my grandparents and cousin (we made the trip every summer). We stopped in Branson for a weekend. It sucked ass. On the last day, when we were heading out, we stopped at Silver Dollar City for some good soft-serve ice cream they had at the front of the park. My grandpa hit a curb in the parking lot and jacked up the underside of the van something terrible. We were stuck in Branson for the next two weeks. Screw you, Silver Dollar City.

We just got back from Branson, MO as a family vacation with my parents, wife and my kid. We all had a blast. Granted, it's tailored to old people 60+ or kids 8 and under

Just wanted to point out that Dan was great on the beastcast and all the people going crazy about him not meshing well with them were wrong.

@laner: Can I just say that Gatlinburg is a shithole. I don't get to say that enough.

Not everyone has premium. If someone new shows up at the site they could think the beastcast is premium only. At least that's what I think.

Really cool of Dan to reinforce the GB East crew.

I can't help but think that Dan thinks any cheese you don't spray out of a can is fancy cheese, so the barrier for entry is pretty low.

Loot box contents are determined when you get one, so you can't save a bunch and get the event stuff from them.

I would play Vinny's Escape Room (Everywhere?) scenario.

I'm a monster.

I love motion smoothing on our television. Not all TVs do it the same/as well, some of the low end TVs are particularly bad about how the implement it or giving no options for control, but we'll nearly always leave it on - clarity, evens out poor framerates or jumpy shots, you can tweak if for various situations, often gives you a better view of the moving components in gaming, etc. I fully realize it doesn't give you the "classic" look of 24 FPS, but I generally prefer it from a "viewing the image" perspective.

I'm a monster. But a monster with a beautiful picture.
