Thursday Night Throwdown: 07/28/11

Poor Unreal Tournament 3. It could've been so great, but Epic dropped the ball. It felt so halfassed, in a "we're obligated to make another Unreal Tournament but we actually don't want to" sort of way. Nothing about the game was inspired. It came with next to no cool mutators, very few "good" maps, and the changes it made to some of the existing gametypes (like the Orb in Onslaught/"Warfare") were genuinely annoying.

Yeah, watching this reminded me that the reason I no longer like FPS games is not because I've changed, but because the games are nothing like this anymore. My hands were itching to grab the keyboard/mouse controls and jump in, the entire time I was watching this.

I was the eye being crazy and jumping like a mad...eye?

I really hope the Q3A model of shooter can make a proper come back one day, I miss them dearly. Nothing beats the raw speed and skill base of a good few rounds of Pro Q3DM6.

Couldn't help myself, went directly to Steam and bought the Id complete pack after watching this week's TNT.

I'm weak. :-(

This TNT brings back many memories Thank you Giantbomb.Fun fact: i got Quake III revolution for the PS2 back in the day when a ps2 was very expensive,safe to say i loved the port,and played it unntil the disc worn out.i got a pc also that could handle the quake III the same year,it's was awesome.

Watching some Quake 3 action was awesome, and took me back. Rail gun all the way, baby! I'd love to see some UT 2000 as well.

TNT Live is always free, the archived version is for members only. The last HH of the month is free for all.

I got some hardcore urges to play Quake III again, watching this. Wish I had played during TNT. But I just looked it up on Steam and it's still twenty goddamn dollars. Are you kidding me? That game has been out since 1999. That's last millennium.

@whatisdelicious: Well, if people would still be playing it instead of Quake Live I'd probably say it's easily still worth the money.. but it's a bit much, indeed.

And yeah, great effort by Brad, especially after not playing the game for 10 years.. quite impressive. I guess it's almost like riding a bike.

Oh and Will Smith could not be more wrong about CTF being bad in Q3, so you know. ;)

This game is so much better than quake champions its not even funny
