Dan hears "Worms," Brad hears "APM counter," both come running.

The bitrate on this video is ass. Just compare the little video feature intro in this to the one Vinny put out today.

What? You're crazy! Totally HD!

Hit the green blob to continue!

Hate to say it, but I've noticed it lately as well. The Divinity QL and last week's UPF got a bit fuzzy for me when the action picked up using HTML 5.0 HD and streaming HD in Chrome.

@ryan3370: It's exactly what I'm saying =) If you ever played Starcraft on any of the small maps you would know that that is exactly what those maps devolved down to. I'm not saying there's no potential for depth or anything, but with the map sizes I've seen in this game whoever does the best rush will most likely win the game.

@ares42: yeah I played SC and SC2 for quite a while, I know what you're saying. I don't entirely agree but that's ok.

the bigger problem is really the size of the player base. I'm not even very good at the game but I'm always matched against top-5 players in the world just because they are the only ones queue'ing. For a game that's been on steam for a very long time now, that's a big problem if you don't have friends that play and if you've completed the single player mode.

@raven10: The thing is, aggression starts too early for any tower diversity to matter. You build the first mines and then an attack tower and the fight starts. If you win that fight you're in a huge advantage since you can start attacking the opponents mines and just "mirror" whatever your opponent does and you will eventually win through eco. If you don't answer your opponents tower with a tower you instantly lose (so going for greed is a non-option, as shown in the QL), and if you go for the non-confrontation it's still first tower wins since it gives the initiative advantage.

The only way you will get any real strategy out of the game is if the bases are much further apart so each player gets the chance to develop some sort of strategy before the fighting starts.

While winning an early encounter is a big advantage, it's almost like saying "well whoever zerg rushes better wins"

They didn't really get to explore most of the building types and strategies

I was thinking afterwards that they should do some sort of MOBA type thing where one player picks a tower then the other player picks a tower and back and forth until the fill their arsenal. It would let players build counters specifically to what their opponent chose.

What's up with all these pseudo mobile game quicklooks?

Yes, I was thinking that was odd myself. Mousecraft and now this, both Dan driven videos. Both look like mobile games. Which I don't say derisively, they both looked like fun games, just better suited for phones or tablets.

Watch the FIFA video and pretty much any video that isn't from GBeast and it's the same

Whoever described this as a tower-defense style game did it a huge disservice.

Very much appreciate Dan putting some research into the games he quick looks. The game itself looks interesting, but the maps are so small that there doesn't seem a lot of room for tactial positioning. It's like, get to the middle of the map first and hit the base from there.

Really cool looking game. Maybe a bit too hectic for my taste though.

I thought this game had been out for a couple years now. It's still considered "unfinished"?

Almost 1 year exactly, it's just released into Beta and Steam Early Access, it's an Indie game made by a dude and a lady.

There's more Unfinished videos than Quick Looks as of late. Early Access is so out of control.

Everything keeps getting delayed to 2015, and summer is a typically slow time of year for games.

Whoever described this as a tower-defense style game did it a huge disservice.

The point of the game is to defend your tower.

Is it not?

This is hilarious, Brad did the exact same thing he does in Starcraft, fiddles around his base building economy, then gets flustered when the attacking starts, and blows it.

@luck702: So that makes Portal an FPS, too. Dota 2 and Trine are third-person shooters. Garry's Mod is a hidden object game. Die Hard is a tower defense game. Sorry, you're just kind of blowing my mind here.

Die Hard being a tower defense movie is blowing my mind even harder. Thanks for that.
