I'd completely forgotten about this game, it's been nearly 10 years since it was first shown.

I think the truth about Spy Party is that it will never be finished. That's the real mystery. Banana bread.

I was just wondering if this game still existed. I remember playing it at PAX East in either 2011 or 2012.

Yup, late 2009 for the first entry on the DevBlog.

It's certainly come a long way graphically.

I keep confusing this with Totally Spies! Totally Party due to that one Bombcast bit.

This is rough to watch when Chris keeps on going on about random details and never shutting up while they don't properly even explain the concept. When they get into the game its absolute madness when hes literally talking the whole time and trying to explain the weird controls and telling Ben what to do..

I ALMOST mistook Chris Hecker for Adam Sessler just by how similar they sound to each other.

Love this game btw. So many tense moments.

Oh man I have such a hard time listening to Chris Hecker sometimes. He just talks SOOOOOOOOOO FAST and gets off track sooooo easily.

Also yes, we get it, "today" is the 2nd of April.

I feel like perhaps the crew assumed everyone already knew what SpyParty was but my dudes its been like 5+ years since this game was last covered here.

He definitely has that fast stuttery speech going like Sessler.

So happy this is coming to Steam. I first heard of it forever ago and thought the idea was brilliant.

I was interested eight years ago, and I'm still interested today! Will definitely pick this up. Thanks for the hard work, Chris.

This looks great. And I feel like it as actually quite intuitive. I've been playing games long enough to grasp these systems fairly easily.

@bawalo: Yeah, I got about 9 mins in and had to go to another video. He's excited and talking a thousand miles per hour (god knows Ive been there). It's on Brad to rein it in and get some focus.

Thanks for both saying the very reason I had to stop watching at the 15 minute mark. The game has always been super intriguing to me, but also extremely daunting. Unfortunately, listening to him explain every technical aspect at an auctioneer barker's pace had me tapping out early. Looking at these comments, seems like it never quite gets back on track. I'd have to agree, it's up to the Giantbomb staffer doing the EX to reign in the guest when it goes this off rails. This guy's a developer who's nervous, excited about his brand new baby, and most of all doesn't have that much experience being on camera, so it's up to Brad to keep things focused.

All that being said, I'm looking forward to a proper QuickLook to see how the boys do at it.

What is even happening does Brad see something different as sniper . This is a hot mess. I mean what the hell. Sometimes stop and listen to yourself and think about your audience. 25 minutes in and I gave up since he spent 15 mins showing a PowerPoint presentation.

The last time SpyParty was on GB was on 2011.

This is so hard to watch. I'm 20 minutes in and I'm not quite sure what the point of the game is.

I get that Chris is passionate and excited, but he's talking way too fast and like we all know everything about this game already.

Also, he may be the only person I've heard talk about Spore like it was the best game ever, not a huge disappointment.

Dude is a game maker, not a public speaker. Got to cut him some slack- these are the only EX videos I can watch. The PR people are terrible.

I feel bad for the guy, I kind of wish they edited this so he doesn't come off so poorly.

About 10 minutes in, I was reminded of Vinny's art professor(?): "Stop talking, show your piece". These details are super interesting, but we need to see what the thing is first; we need that context.

That's the problem - when he said "the sniper", I realised I have no idea what this game is. I was thinking it was something more like The Ship, where you are both in the party.

Once you get about 20-25 minutes in, it gets way better. You've got the game to give context, and introduction of new concepts without seeing how they matter in game slows down.

Really cool that Chris Hecker was so willing to share early dev images and demonstrate how far the game has come. Also a great surprise to finally learn what SpyParty was, after hearing about for years. This is one of those things why I like this website. They highlight the devs behind the games. The game looks fun and tense in a interesting way!

This is an awesome game...I remember the original showings of this game and it seemed so ambitious...I'm glad there's progress, I'm going to pick it up for sure when it comes out

Is it just me or would this be an absolutely perfect game to offer a VR option? Have the Spy operated by M+K and put the Sniper into VR goggles and you have a perfect way to do co-op on a single machine with no screen-peeking guaranteed. The game does not seem like a resource hog so it seems like it would be feasible.

This looks really awesome, I'm excited to see how it's going to grow with its time in early access. I usually don't play EA games until they are done but I will be keeping an eye on this for sure.

The first 30 mins of this video are rough but once Ben and Brad get a hang of it, its fantastic. I can't wait to play this and watch GB, Waypoint, and Polygon streaming it.

Man I was excited for this when I saw it on the BLLSL in 2011 and now seeing how far it has come and hearing how far it's going to go, I can't wait to buy this on steam.

Checker's visit to Giant Bomb all those years ago was what introduced me to this game and I've watched a lot of it on Twitch since.

Ben's enthusiasm over the game was awesome. I hope it sticks.

Maybe it’s because I already knew what this game was about but I didn’t have much trouble following along with what Chris was saying. He talks quickly but I would rather have the pationnate developer than a PR guy going down a list of bullet points. They really should have done at least some of the tutorial at the beginning because it looks really well presented from what we saw and it would prevent Chris from frantically trying to explain abstract concepts to them while playing. It’s cool being aware of a game for 8 years though and seeing how it’s changed over time.

This dude needs to tone it down like...by 75%. This is so hard to listen to, I have no idea what's going on or what he's talking about, and I *know* what Spy Party is.
